Job Description

So, who are we?

Hello, we're IG Group. We are a publicly-traded FTSE250 FinTech company who run mobile, web and desktop platforms that help our clients trade stocks & shares, leveraged products, Futures & Options and Crypto.

We are ambitious. Over 340,000 people already use our platforms. We're global with offices in 18 countries and products in 16 regions. We're hungry to move faster, ship better product for our customers and grow our user base. We believe in high autonomy, and we want people who are looking to do things differently in order to create better experiences for our customers.

We work in cross-functional teams and are laser focused on increasing the number of active clients we serve to drive sustainable growth.

Your team

IG’s Tax function is headquartered in London and reports directly to the CFO. The team comprises the Group Head of Tax and five tax professionals covering four core areas: Corporate Tax, Indirect Tax, Operational Tax, and Employment Tax. This role will primarily report to the Indirect Tax and Operational Tax senior managers.

Your role in the Team's Success

Global tax requirements are becoming ever more complex, requiring us to evolve and become more efficient so that we can continue to support the company’s growth agenda.

This is a rare, some might say golden opportunity, to learn and get involved in all aspects of an in-house tax function, with ample chance to expand your tax knowledge, and interact with the business and our products.

What you'll do
  • Assist the Indirect Tax SM to support IG companies in the UK and elsewhere with meeting their Indirect Tax Compliance obligations, including assistance with the VAT return preparation for the UK group
  • Assist the Operational Tax SM with tax filings around the world, such as:
    • FATCA/CRS/CARF
    • US WHT filings
  • Contribute to improving and adapting processes for efficiency and to maintain compliance within the dynamic global tax landscape
  • Be a contact point for Finance and the IG business more widely for support and advice in respect of VAT and operational tax matters, including supporting the launch of new products
  • Assist Finance teams with accounting aspects of Indirect Tax, including provisioning and budgeting.
  • Preparation and maintenance of transfer pricing documentation and policies
  • Keep up to date with legislative and policy changes, and the opportunities and threats they bring to the Group
  • In time, for the right candidate there will be opportunities to get involved in global corporate tax and employment tax issues
What you'll need for this role
  • This is a broad role, and we do not expect you to have experience in all aspects of the different tax types, however a tax or accounting qualification (ACA/CTA) will demonstrate you have a foundation to build from
  • 3+ years experience in professional services firm or other in-house tax role
  • Strong analytical skills – with a natural curiosity and confidence to proactively question and dig deeper if information does not make sense
  • A confident communication style and a collaborative mindset will enable you to get the most out of this role in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships across the business
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel. Experience of other data analytic tools would be helpful (e.g. Power BI)
  • Strong data management skills with an attention to detail
  • Ambitious, adaptable and enjoys a dynamic, rapidly changing working environment
How we work

We try to take a thoughtful approach to our ways of working as a company. We follow a hybrid working model with 3 days in the office -- which we think balances the need to collaborate effectively and connect with each other. When it comes to how we deliver, there are 5 things we want everyone to do to drive high performance, better learning and career satisfaction:

  • Raise the bar: Take ownership, be accountable and share feedback

We believe that diversity is vital to success, it fuels creativity, drives innovation and sets us up for global success. We're committed to building teams with a variety of perspectives and skills to help us realise our vision and strategy, that's why we encourage applications from people with diverse backgrounds and experiences to join us on this journey.
