Hybrid – with 1 day a week in our Canning Town office – E16

Telent are currently recruiting for a Systems Engineer to join the Transport side of their business – this is a permanent positon based from our office near Canning Town, you will ideally attend the office at least 1 day a week (E16)

The system engineer will work in a small team that supports both the projects team and maintenance team delivering works across London Underground and Network Rail systems.

 We would be delighted to hear from you if you have the following experience:

  • Experience with producing or maintaining Cyber security processes and procedures
  • Experience with maintaining and configuring firewalls including Cisco and Juniper.
  • Experience of designing, building, testing and maintaining network equipment, including Switches, Routers and firewalls
  • Experience of designing, building, testing and maintaining Windows Server architectures
  • Experience of working in a London Underground Environment (desirable but not essential)
  • Experience working with network support tools including network management systems and policy enforcement 
  • Experience working with Microsoft Sentinel SIEM

Role Profile: 

  • The role will be to work with the network and security team who focus on 
    • building and maintaining, network and security systems 
    • producing system design documentation
    • Creating Cyber Security documentation and processes 
  • The system engineer will support the creation of cyber security documentation to meet customers standards
  • Supporting the project team to design test and deliver network upgrades for our customers.

Typical Deliverables:

  • To provide technical support and continual improvement for rail’s cyber security approach
  • Carry out network and security design works for our customer networks
  • Provide a technical interface to the client as required
  • Supporting the design and integration of the SIEM platform
  • Support customer networks and systems to our rail customers
  • Work with other teams to improve systems security and monitoring

Business Operations Skills – Qualifications: 

  • HND or above in an engineering/Computer discipline or 5 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Cisco CCNP or possibly CCNA with aspirations to complete the CCNP
  • Any Security accreditation would be beneficial including CISSP or CompTIA CYSA+ for example
  • ITIL foundation

Behavioural Requirements:

  • You will be an effective communicator (both written and verbal)
  • Proven experience within a networks or security infrastructure environment
  • Demonstrable emotional intelligence to communicate effectively and positively with customers and colleagues in a challenging environment
