About Capital Partners

One of the three primary drivers of revenue for RenaissanceRe, Capital Partners is an industry-leading manager of insurance-linked securities (ILS) capital, serving the needs of large institutional investors through superior risk selection and portfolio construction.  For the past twenty-five years, our unique hybrid model of owned and managed capital has provided broad access to risk, specialized reinsurance underwriting, and strong governance, ensuring our interests are aligned with those of our investors.  The Capital Partners team, approximately 20-25 professionals supported by a robust team of functional partners, constructs private ILS transactions for global institutional investors via third-party capital vehicles, joint ventures, and catastrophe bond trading.  RenaissanceRe is a NYSE-listed, SOX-compliance public company, and we manage these investments through exempt reporting adviser entities (ERAs). Our ability to provide innovative solutions in this dynamic global business environment requires adept handling of complex compliance matters.  As of January 2024, we are stewards of approximately $12 billion in assets under management through Capital Partners.

About the Position

Reporting directly to SVP, Business Development – Lead, Capital Partners, the SVP, Business Development – Europe (including UK), will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of business development for Capital Partners in Europe.  Successful candidates will lead the execution of the sales strategy across Europe (including the United Kingdom), focused initially on the launch of a new UCITS product aimed towards qualified institutional investors. They will be responsible for working closely with the Investment Managers, consultants, any placement agents (if applicable), and the Capital Partners Business Development team with a focus on introduction and sales execution for new investors. The SVP will be responsible for developing the business development plan for the UCITS road show and managing the CRM system related to the UCITS sales strategy.

The [S]VP role can be based in our London, Zurich, or Dublin office and will be expected to travel extensively within Europe and other regions as requested, with additional regular travel to Bermuda.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the business development and fundraising efforts in Europe, including origination of new investors primarily for, but not limited to, our UCITS Cat Bond Offering; primary focus will be on  large European institutional investors, including pension plans/funds, asset managers, and sovereign wealth funds

  • Lead the development of fund marketing plans for Europe, including market demand assessments

  • Work closely with colleagues across Business Development and Investor Relations globally in coordinating overall business development and sales activities

  • Lead the development and execution of the sales strategy across Europe, including taking the lead in identifying markets

  • Develop strong productive relationships within the Capital Partners global team

  • Ownthe outreach to Consultants in the European market, with a focus on establishing new relationships and increasing investor opportunities

  • Ensuring timely, accurate, and relevant data capture within the CRM to track opportunity flows, prospect and lead development efforts, and success rate

  • Assist where needed on European and global investor relations activities as needed

Candidate Qualifications:

  • Proven track record of success in fundraising and business development for alternative strategies, primarily with large institutional investors 

  • 10+ years experience in a senior role in business development and sales execution in the investment banking, hedge fund and / or asset management sectors, primarily focused in Europe

  • Knowledge of property catastrophe reinsurance, catastrophe bonds, and / or UCITS structures would be an asset

  • Experience with CRM systems and reporting KPIs; tracking of opportunities and success

  • Superior quantitative, written and verbal communication and negotiation skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate professionally at all levels of the organization as well as externally with key investors, brokers and cedants

  • Self-confidence and maturity to appropriately represent RenaissanceRe in all professional and social settings

  • Strong computer skills including advanced knowledge of Excel

  • Undergraduate/ university degree expected, ideally in a business, finance or similar discipline
