Your role and responsibilities

Are you passionate about sustainability and ready to lead strategic transformation in a global tech organization? ABB Robotics is seeking a visionary Sustainability Strategy & Governance Lead to drive our sustainability agenda and embed it into the core of our business strategy.

In this Global ABB Robotics role, you will play a pivotal part in shaping and advancing the company’s sustainability agenda. This role will drive the integration of sustainability into corporate strategy, ensuring alignment with leading global frameworks and voluntary disclosure standards, as well as ensuring responses to internal and external stakeholders.

The work model for the role is: Onsite/Hybrid

Examples of responsibilities:

  • Lead the development, implementation and maintenance of strategy, objectives, and targets for key defined sustainability programs in partnership with functional owners.
  • Develop and maintain sustainability policies in collaboration with the other functions and in alignment with stakeholders’ expectations and applicable frameworks, while providing expert advice, training, and tailored support to representatives in other functions.
  • Provide and coordinate input for the sustainability content to the Annual & Sustainability Report, in coordination with Finance and Communication. Align narrative and metrics with global frameworks (e.g., SDGs, UN Global Compact) and ensure consistency with financial reporting
  • Coordinate voluntary ESG disclosures (e.g. GRI index, CDP, EcoVadis), ensuring accuracy, consistency, and timely submission. Leverage the effort with regulatory reporting.
  • Lead responses to customer sustainability requests, balancing commercial needs with data integrity and confidentiality.
  • Monitor emerging sustainability trends and translate them into actionable business targets and initiatives.

Qualifications

  • 10 years’ experience in corporate sustainability/ESG, strategy, or governance roles within international organizations or top-tier advisory firms.
  • Deep knowledge of European sustainability regulation (e.g., CSRD/ESRS) and global frameworks (e.g. GRI, TCFD, UNGC, SDGs).
  • Proven ability to lead materiality assessments, developing strategic roadmaps, and producing high-quality sustainability narratives for annual reporting.
  • Excellent cross-functional influencing skills; ability to translate standards into practical actions for Finance, Operations, and Commercial teams.
  • Structured program management skills (milestones, KPIs, benefits tracking).
  • Outstanding written storytelling and executive-ready communication in English; additional European languages are a plus.
  • Degree in Sustainability, Business, Economics, Engineering, or related field; Master’s preferred.
