Role Responsibilities

Sustainability risk is an increasingly important area for LSEG and plays a key role in how we support long-term business resilience and responsible growth.

As Sustainability Risk Senior Manager, you'll help develop our approach to sustainability risk across the Group. Working within the second line of defence, the role provides independent oversight of sustainability risks and supports a consistent approach to identifying, assessing and monitoring risk across LSEG. You'll work closely with colleagues across Risk, Sustainability and the business to help ensure sustainability considerations are embedded into decision-making, governance and risk management processes.

This is an opportunity to influence how sustainability risk evolves within a global financial markets organisation and to contribute to a risk framework that continues to adapt to changing expectations, regulations and business priorities!

Key Accountabilities

Sustainability Risk Framework & Oversight

We are looking for someone who enjoys turning complex topics into practical risk approaches and helping organisations build a consistent view of risk.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining and improving LSEG's sustainability risk guidance, taxonomy and supporting methodologies.
  • Defining sustainability risk drivers, assessment requirements and oversight expectations across the Group.
  • Embedding sustainability risk into enterprise risk management processes, while maintaining an independent view of sustainability risk exposure and emerging trends.

Independent Review & Challenge

The role provides oversight and challenge across sustainability risk activities, helping ensure risks are understood, managed appropriately and remain within agreed appetite.

This includes:

  • Reviewing risk assessments, controls, mitigation plans and reporting produced by the first line.
  • Identifying common themes, interconnected risks and emerging concerns across divisions and functions.
  • Supporting governance activities where sustainability risk input, review or approval is required.

Risk Appetite, Reporting & Insight

Strong communication skills will be important in helping senior leaders understand complex risk topics and make informed decisions.

Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the development of sustainability risk appetite measures, tolerances and key risk indicators.
  • Monitoring risk exposures, highlighting significant issues and contributing to escalation activities where required.
  • Producing reporting and analysis for management, governance forums and Board committees.

Emerging Risk & Strategic Support

Sustainability risk continues to evolve rapidly. The role helps LSEG understand changing risks and opportunities by:

  • Monitoring emerging trends, regulatory developments and external events.
  • Assessing how these developments may affect the Group's risk profile.
  • Contributing sustainability risk expertise to pivotal initiatives, acquisitions, new products and change programmes.
  • Supporting scenario analysis and stress-testing activities.

Governance & Collaboration

Success in this role comes from building positive relationships across the organisation and helping colleagues navigate sustainability risk matters.

The role will:

  • Partner with Group Sustainability, divisional risk teams and business stakeholders.
  • Support governance forums where sustainability risk matters are discussed.
  • Deliver guidance, training and practical risk advice.
  • Promote a consistent approach to sustainability risk management across LSEG.

External Reporting & Disclosure

The role also supports the review of sustainability-related disclosures and reporting activities by:

  • Providing independent input into sustainability reporting and external disclosures.
  • Reviewing materiality assessments and sustainability risk reporting for completeness and consistency.
  • Assessing alignment between sustainability commitments, risk appetite and the Group's sustainability risk profile.

Qualifications & Experience

We're interested in speaking with individuals who have significant experience within enterprise risk, non-financial risk or sustainability risk management. You will bring a strong understanding of sustainability-related risk themes such as climate, nature, human rights, supply chain, conduct and reputational risk, together with experience developing frameworks, governance approaches and risk reporting. The ability to influence and constructively challenge senior partners is essential, as is strong communication and analytical capability gained within a complex and regulated environment.
