POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking an experienced and purpose-driven Sustainability Manager to help advance our sustainability strategy across the business. Reporting to the SVP, Head of Sustainability, this role will support the design, delivery, and governance of our sustainability priorities, bringing cohesion, consistency, and measurable impact to our work. You’ll work closely with internal stakeholders, external partners, and senior leadership to ensure our sustainability efforts are aligned with both regulatory requirements and long-term corporate ambition.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

Strategy & Integration

  • Support the implementation of the company’s sustainability strategy and help evolve it in line with emerging risks, opportunities, and stakeholder expectations.

  • Collaborate with teams across functions (e.g. risk, operations, underwriting, HR, legal) to embed sustainability into business processes and decision-making.

  • Consider new sustainability initiatives, accreditations, and memberships that align with Renaissance’s sustainability strategy.

  • Drive internal awareness and engagement around sustainability goals.

Data, Disclosure & Reporting

  • Manage data collection, analysis, and reporting for sustainability metrics.

  • Support external reporting aligned to standards such as TCFD, CSRD, GRI, SASB, and regulatory requirements.

  • Coordinate responses to ESG rating agencies, investor queries, and other external assessments.

  • Compile, validate, and analyse internal data for carbon accounting, while managing RenaissanceRe's environmental management system for effective reporting and analysis.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Serve as a point of contact for sustainability-related questions from internal teams,

  • Support partnerships and industry collaborations that align with the company’s sustainability priorities.

  • Participations in Sustainability & Resilience related Industry forums

  • Develop and contribute to communications and thought leadership on sustainability topics.

Governance & Project Management

  • Coordinate governance processes including steering groups, working groups, and sustainability forums.

  • Maintain documentation of initiatives, deliverables, and timelines.
     

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

ESSENTIAL:
5+ years’ experience in sustainability, ESG, corporate responsibility, or a related field.

Strong understanding of sustainability frameworks (e.g. TCFD, CSRD, GHG Protocol, UN SDGs).
Experience translating strategy into action and measurable outcomes.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.
Highly organised, with experience managing projects in a fast-paced environment.

DESIRABLE:
Experience in reinsurance/ insurance.
Familiarity with ESG ratings, regulatory disclosures, and sustainability reporting tools.
Previous experience in change management or cross-functional delivery roles.
