The Role

We’re looking for a purpose-driven and action-oriented Sustainability Lead to drive sustainability at Depop - embedding circular principles across our operations, storytelling, and decision-making.

As part of Etsy’s central Impact team, you’ll bring consistency, rigor, and accountability to how we scale our environmental impact - while tailoring your approach to the unique culture and business needs of Depop. You’ll work closely with cross-functional leaders in Product, Marketing, Legal, Workplace, and Internal Ops to ensure our circular mission is reflected in how we operate every day.

This is a unique role for someone passionate about enabling both vision and execution - translating group-wide ESG standards into local impact, and helping a circular fashion marketplace lead with integrity.

Key Responsibilities

Sustainability Strategy & Enablement:

  • Own Depop’s circularity roadmap, defining the strategy and overseeing the delivery of programs, communications and advocacy

  • Lead the integration of Etsy’s group-level sustainability strategy into Depop’s planning, operations, and cross-functional goals

  • Collaborate with Internal Operations to ensure sustainability is embedded in delivery rhythms, tooling, and vendor processes

  • Identify opportunities for Depop to go further, faster — surfacing initiatives that drive long-term value through reputation, advocacy and brand awareness

Strategic Partnerships & Innovation:

  • Identify, evaluate and manage relationships with third-party vendors, NGOs, and partners that support our sustainability ambitions

  • Help design scalable programs and pilots that push innovation in resale, responsible consumption, and community-based sustainability

Cross-Functional Advisory:

  • Act as subject matter expert for Depop teams across Product, Marketing, Legal, and Customer Experience — guiding them on how and when to embed sustainability in features, communications, campaigns, and community engagement

  • Partner with the Internal Ops and Workplace teams to inform sustainable workplace and supplier practices

Experience & Knowledge

  • Extensive experience in corporate sustainability, ESG, or circular economy (experience within fashion, resale, or tech is a plus)

  • Experience developing and delivering impact programs in collaboration with internal stakeholders and external organisations

Skills & Strengths

  • Strategic thinker with strong execution skills - comfortable moving between systems-level thinking and detailed program delivery

  • Excellent communicator, able to translate complex sustainability concepts into actionable insights for non-technical audiences

  • Skilled stakeholder manager, confident collaborating across legal, technical, creative and executive teams

Mindset

  • Passionate about building a more circular, transparent, and equitable future

  • Proactive, pragmatic, and low-ego — able to work in a fast-paced, matrixed environment

  • Values integrity, humility, and continuous learning
