OVERVIEW: 

The Surplus Lines team at EPIC is engaged with the account teams to determine the compliance and state requirements for a surplus lines placement. They are each responsible for a selection of states to handle the filing, reporting, and payment of applicable taxes by working directly with our accounting team by providing reconciliation reports and advising them what to pay. They work with state regulators for audits and assist with general training and guidance to the field.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • File surplus lines taxes to SLA offices or state agencies in a timely manner.
  • Complete surplus lines tax returns for all assigned states.
  • Coordinate payment of surplus lines taxes by appropriate due dates.
  • Create and update surplus lines requirement summary sheet for each state.
  • Work with SLA offices and state agencies to resolve any discrepancies.
  • Assist in providing training and education to the account teams
  • Utilize InsCipher for all filings and reports

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret surplus lines regulations and requirements.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Be able to multi-task and prioritize.
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Excellent follow up skills.
  • Able to navigate the internet.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of two years of Surplus lines experience required
  • Property & Casualty Insurance background preferred
  • Some college preferred
  • Accounting experience helpful

The national average salary for this role is $57,000 to $77,000 in base pay depending on location and is and exclusive of any bonuses or benefits. The base pay offered will be determined based on your experience, skills, training, certifications and education, while also considering internal equity and market data.
