Locations: Hybrid working with one of the following locations as primary - Derby, Warrington or Manchester

The Reactor Island Integration team sits at the heart of our engineering capability, shaping the physical architecture of the plant and ensuring seamless integration of design, installation and operations. Working at the cutting edge of modular nuclear design, the team drives innovation in layout optimisation and operational efficiency.
The Opportunity
In this context, we are looking for a Manager – Mechanical Layout & Installations (Support & Outage Block) to report to our Senior Manager – Reactor Island Layout. Leading a team of Layout engineers, this pivotal role will define and deliver building layouts and plant outage strategies that underpin safe, efficient and cost-effective reactor operations.
What You’ll Be Delivering
We’ll need you to:
Leading the end-to-end delivery of mechanical layout and installation design for the Support & Outage buildings, ensuring outputs meet cost, quality and schedule requirements
Owning and developing integrated outage strategies across Reactor Island, working closely with Operations to embed maintainability and operational efficiency into design solutions
Coordinating multi-disciplinary inputs (Civils, Construction, Architecture, Safety, Security, Human Factors) to define building layouts, personnel flows, and operational models
Defining and executing the delivery plan for the Support & Outage block, aligning stakeholders and ensuring effective governance and design assurance
Managing programme risks, identifying lessons learned, and escalating key issues to drive continuous improvement and robust delivery
Leading, coaching and developing a small team of engineers, ensuring strong technical oversight, capability growth and effective resource utilisation
Providing technical checking, guidance and approval of design outputs, ensuring compliance with standards, requirements and best practice

Skills & Experience
A degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related discipline), or equivalent experience
Experience delivering complex layout or installation design programmes, and/or plant operations experience within regulated or high-integrity environments
We’ll ask about your experience leading engineering teams, managing delivery milestones, and navigating design trade-offs
Knowledge of systems engineering principles, stakeholder management, andthrough-life operational design considerations
Location
We offer flexible working, with expectations to attend key UK sites as required to support collaboration and delivery.
What’s In It For You
We anticipate paying a salary of between £60,000-£78,750
Bonus - Performance related target opportunity 7%
Benefits Allowance – £2,200 per annum, enabling you to create a bespoke package
Pension - 12% employer and 6% employee contributions.
Holidays - 28 days holiday (+ public holidays) and the ability to buy or sell up to 4 days.

Selection Process
The selection process will include an initial conversation with Talent Acquisition followed by technical and stakeholder interviews.
Due to the nature of our industry, successful applicants will be required to complete BPSS clearance, a DBS check, and financial probity checks.
