About Your Role

This is an exciting opportunity within the supply and partnerships division of PXC for a commercially astute individual to own and drive a key element of the group’s supplier strategy. We are in the midst of a Full Fibre revolution which is the biggest change in the broadband industry for a generation. Full Fibre allows end customers to enjoy speed and reliability that changes how they interact with the digital world as consumers, homeworkers or businesses.

The good news for PXC is that there are several suppliers rolling out Full Fibre networks that are looking to create competitive supply across the industry. Leveraging PXC’s significant scale this industry pivot from copper to Full Fibre connectivity generates an opportunity to develop a compelling mix of supplier partnerships which provide Ethernet and variants of Ethernet connectivity.

This role is key to building a long-lasting relationships with existing suppliers and potential new suppliers. You will nurture these relationships to make sure PXC can take full advantage of the partnerships and fully leverage the vast connectivity network already in place. By owning the relationship with these suppliers, you will ensure that we maximise the partnerships to drive the right commercial outcomes for PXC, our partners and the supplier. Management is via a clear governance, strategy, performance and planning framework.

This role reports to the Commercial Director – S&P and the team is responsible for:

  • All commercial activity with Openreach/Alt-net connectivity suppliers

  • All commercial activity with off-net connectivity suppliers.

  • All commercial activity with OTT (value add) suppliers.

  • The day-to-day relationship with OR, Alt-net, off net & OTT suppliers.

  • Optimising the commercial position for PXC at every opportunity.

  • Leveraging the relationships and contracts to PXC’s benefit.

  • Reducing the cost of doing business with suppliers (COG’s).

  • Negotiation of commercial terms / deals and offers.

  • Monitoring performance against contractual terms, deals & offers.

  • Input into OR consultation documents (I.e. Exchange exit).

What Will Make You Successful in this Role

  • Commercial and analytical acumen to deliver the optimal outcome for PXC.

  • Ability to make recommendations and communicate them to senior stakeholders for agreement / approval.

  • Ability to quickly assimilate complex information and concepts and then simplify for communicating to others (including complex legal / contractual and regulatory documentation).

  • Work in a highly collaborate way with other business units / partners and where required use a matrix management approach to help deliver the S&P priorities / strategy.

  • Ability to understand and interpret financial statements (P&L, cashflow etc.) and Commercial KPI’s.

  • Ability to work with complex data and be able to articulate what is needed to answer a problem statement to the relevant teams (e.g. the Insight Team).

  • Experience of dealing with external parties, ideally in relation to Commercial matters would be viewed favourably.
