What you’ll be doing.Working within the Research Microscopy Solutions (RMS) department, at ZEISS, we are looking for a Supplier Development Engineer to play a crucial role in maintain quality standards with suppliers.You will work with cutting-edge optical technology, ensuring product performance, reliability, and customer satisfaction.Your responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and maintain supplier quality management processes and procedures
  • Regularly visit suppliers to address quality issues and support ongoing improvements (travel up to 50%)
  • Conduct audits and assessments to evaluate quality systems and capabilities, following the audit plan
  • Lead supplier corrective action processes for non-conformances and quality issues
  • Collaborate with operations to monitor supplier performance metrics and drive continuous improvement initiatives
  • Facilitate in supplier development activities to enhance quality capabilities
  • Collaborate with procurement, engineering, and manufacturing teams on supplier-related quality matters
  • Provide technical guidance to suppliers on quality requirements and expectations
  • Bring awareness on quality issues with suppliers
  • Lead suppliers' regular calls to discuss quality trends and improvement activities
  • Create, issue and complete Supplier Corrective Action requests – 8D process.

We are looking for a highly motivated Supplier Development Engineer with a strong background in supplier quality management and auditing. The ideal candidate holds an engineering degree and has hands-on experience in production-related environments, particularly in quality assurance, supplier development, or supply chain management. Camera-based fluorescence microscopy

Key Requirements:

  • Degree in engineering discipline (BSc/BEng or MSc/MEng).
  • Demonstrable professional experience in a production-related environment, ideally in quality assurance/management, supplier development, supply chain management or production.
  • Experience conducting audits in accordance with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards.
  • Hands-on experience in dealing with supplier and/or complaint processes.
  • Experience using MS Office products, as well as knowledge of SAP.
  • A high degree of personal responsibility, assertiveness, strong communication skills as well as an analytical and structured way of working.
