About the role & team

Global Focus Categories (GFC) represent a multi-billion-dollar portfolio at the center of eBay’s strategy, including categories such as Collectibles, Fashion, P&A, Electronics & Home, and Vehicles. These categories are priority investment areas for eBay, each with distinct customer dynamics and significant opportunities to unlock growth.

We are seeking a Strategy and Operations Lead to join the GFC team in London. This role will support the GFC leadership team in defining and accomplishing strategy across the portfolio, while driving operational excellence and cross-category alignment. This is a high-impact role with exposure to senior leadership and the opportunity to build some of eBay’s most important businesses.

You will act as both a strategic thought partner and an embedded operator, helping translate strategic priorities into execution across a complex, global portfolio.

This role requires the ability to structure ambiguous problems and develop clear strategic frameworks. It also demands operational rigor to drive initiatives from planning through delivery. You will work across categories and functions, helping ensure consistency, visibility, and performance across the GFC portfolio.

You will collaborate closely with leaders across product, engineering, marketing, analytics, finance, trust, and regional teams across North America, Europe, and Asia.

What you will accomplish
  • Strategic Partnership: Serve as a trusted thought partner to the GFC leadership team, supporting the development of portfolio-level strategy and key growth initiatives.

  • Operational Ownership: Drive the execution of strategic priorities, ensuring progress against key achievements, targets, and business objectives across the portfolio.

  • Portfolio Strategy & Insights: Develop a complete view of performance across GFC categories, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities to inform decision-making.

  • Cross-Category Initiatives: Support and lead initiatives that drive consistency, guidelines, and alignments across categories.

  • Business Planning & Cadence: Manage core operating rhythms, including planning cycles, business reviews, and performance tracking across the portfolio.

  • Executive Communication: Build clear, data-driven materials for senior leadership, including strategic deep dives, performance updates, and recommendations.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with product, engineering, marketing, finance, analytics, trust/risk, and regional teams to align on priorities and drive execution.

  • Problem Solving & Deep Dives: Lead structured analyses on high-priority topics, from diagnosis through implementation.

  • Process Improvement: Identify and implement improvements to drive operational efficiency, clarity, and scalability across the organization.

What you will bring
  • Experience at a management consulting firm or in a strategy/operations role within a leading technology, eCommerce, or consumer company preferred.

  • Strong analytical and structured problem-solving skills, with the ability to break down complex business challenges.

  • Proven ability to manage cross-functional projects and influence collaborators without direct authority.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience creating executive-ready presentations.

  • High level of ownership, with a track record of delivering results in fast-paced and ambiguous environments.

  • Comfortable working with data to inform decision-making; experience with analytics and modeling is a plus.

  • Collaborative approach with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work across global teams.

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or equivalent experience preferred.

Additional Information

This role is based in London and will require regular collaboration with global teams across multiple time zones.
