Strategy & Operations team
The Strategy & Operations team is in the COO office of Wintermute, tasked with scaling the company to its very ambitious milestones. This role is highly practical and hands-on, focussed on making things happen through data, analytics and reporting, rather than high-level advisory or strategy design. You will report to the Head of Strategy & Operation and work on building data-driven business functions that support growth and operational efficiency.
It is an incredibly unique opportunity to be part of a “startup” that has already become a global market leader in its category, achieved commercial success and is yet small enough (in terms of headcount) where you can make a big difference!
Opportunities for you:
- Deep exposure to financial markets, crypto and our business lines
- Hands-on entrepreneurial experience collaborating with a wide variety of departments
- A lot of personal accountability and related non-linear rewards for results
- Experience working in one of the most dynamic and exciting industries of the decade in a company that has a very diversified exposure to crypto (you do not bet on a specific token, protocol or product)
Potential/ likely functional subject areas:
- Data Quality: Take ownership of ensuring the accuracy of our internal datasets. Identify errors, inconsistencies, and gaps between different data sources (e.g., internal vs. external data sources) and implement processes to resolve them.
- Reporting & Methodology: Understand our reporting methodologies and external sources in depth. Propose changes on methodology to increase accuracy of our analysis.
- Analytics & Insights: Translate data into actionable insights for decision-making.
- Workflow & Automation: Streamline reporting processes by introducing automation and standardized checks. Build dashboards or tools that improve data visibility, speed, and confidence in decision-making.
- Cross-functional Support: Collaborate with business development, product, and operations teams by providing clean, accurate data and analyses that support go-to-market strategies, new business launches, and corporate initiatives.
- Presentations & Communications: Contribute to board, investor, and internal updates by ensuring underlying data is consistent, accurate, and clearly presented
Hard Skills Requirements:
- 2–5 years in a data-focused role (e.g., analytics, reporting, operations, consulting, or similar). Experience combining advisory/analytical work with hands-on execution is a strong plus.
- Strong quantitative and problem-solving abilities; comfortable reconciling, validating, and interpreting complex datasets.
- Experience with SQL for data querying and Python (or similar) for scripting/automation.
- Familiarity with tools like Tableau, Power BI, or equivalent to translate data into clear insights.
- Hands-on mindset with the ability to move from idea to action, take ownership, and follow through reliably.
- Clear and concise communicator who listens well and can translate technical findings into business insights.
- Highly structured and detail-oriented; able to manage multiple stakeholders, align cross-functional projects, and maintain urgency.
- Curiosity and ability to quickly pick up new concepts and tools, from technical platforms (automation, databases) to conceptual frameworks (e.g., emerging markets, DeFi protocols).
Other Requirements:
- Curiosity in finance, trading, blockchain, and cryptocurrencies; if you are not interested to follow the industry in your spare time “because it’s fascinating”, it will be difficult to keep up
- Results-driven and ability to get things done in a fast and efficient way, good at making sure the "trains run on time"
- A healthy level of self-awareness and ability to learn from your own mistakes
- Preference to work in a meritocracy and being judged by what you deliver
- Ownership mentality, prepared to work beyond 9-to-5 to achieve what is required for the business
- Enjoy working in a team environment from our London office
Here is why you should join our dynamic team:
- Opportunity to work at one of the world's leading algorithmic trading firms
- Engaging projects offering accelerated responsibilities and ownership compared to traditional finance environments.
- A vibrant working culture with team meals, festive celebrations, gaming events and company wide team building events.
- A Wintermute-inspired office in central London, featuring an array of amenities such as table tennis and foosball, personalized desk configurations, a cozy team breakout area with games.
- Great company culture: informal, non-hierarchical, ambitious, highly professional with a startup vibe, collaborative and entrepreneurial.
- A performance-based compensation with a significant earning potential alongside standard perks like pension and private health insurance.
