Description

We’re looking for a Strategic Projects Manager to join the Business Operations team and play a key role in executing our 2026 strategy. This is a newly created role designed to strengthen and enhance the COO organisation and support TrueLayer’s first post-acquisition integration.

Around 80% of your first-year focus will be partnering with the Director of Strategic Projects to manage the day-to-day integration plan, cadence tracking, documentation, and execution discipline. The remaining 20% will be supporting the COO on various strategic and operational initiatives.

This role is ideal for someone with experience in business operations, consulting, strategy, or project/program management, who thrives in ambiguity, builds structure, and enjoys enabling high-performing teams.

What we expect from you as a Strategic Projects & Operations Manager:

Strategic Projects & M&A Integration (Primary Focus – 80%)

  • Provide project management support for integration workstreams across COO functions (Business Operations, Legal, Risk, Compliance, Fincrime, People, Workplace, Policy) and overall day-to-day integration plan
  • Track milestones, dependencies, and risks for the operations workstream and ensure clear, timely communication across teams.
  • Coordinate inputs across departments to ensure integration planning is consistent, documented, and on track.
  • Identify risks and blockers early, escalating appropriately to enable effective decision-making.
  • Support Director of Strategic Projects with preparing integration updates, materials, and briefing packs for leadership and wider organisation updates.
  • Help design and operationalise new cross-functional workflows created through the integration.

COO Office Operations (20%)

  • Build and maintain operating cadences for the Operational teams (leadership meetings, all-hands, quarterly goals).
  • Coordinate updates from all Operational teams  to ensure alignment, visibility, and consistency.
  • Track actions, commitments, and cross-functional dependencies, ensuring follow-through.
  • Partner with the COO’s EA to keep the leadership team accountable, prepared and aligned.
  • Document and maintain playbooks for Operational teams processes, governance, and decision-making processes.
  • Identify opportunities to improve ways of working across Business Operations through enterprise AI and automation tools.
About you:

This is a new role with a remit that will evolve quickly.  While the following skills and attributes are indicative of the profile we are looking for, behaviours are as important as skills and attitude is more important than experience.  Your willingness to acquire new skills and to collaborate within a high-performing team, and your  ambition to learn and grow in this environment, are all more important than any technical skills or professional experience.

  • Demonstrable experience in business operations, consulting, strategy, project/program management, or similar roles.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to structure complex work and keep teams aligned.
  • Experience or interest in M&A integration, change programmes, or cross-functional transformation work.
  • Ability to influence without authority and work effectively with senior stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational instincts and an ability to create clarity from complexity.
  • A process-oriented mindset with the ability to document and maintain clear playbooks.
  • Comfortable with surfacing risks, raising issues early, and maintaining accountability across teams.
  • Curious and pragmatic about leveraging AI and automation tools in daily operations.
  • Ambitious, adaptable, and energised by building structure in a fast-scaling environment.

What Success Looks Like (12 Months)

  • Integration milestones are on track, with risks and blockers clearly reported, and updates communicated to the wider company in a structured way.
  • COO Office cadences are embedded, documented, and consistently enabling leadership effectiveness.
  • Risks, dependencies, and commitments are surfaced early and resolved efficiently.
  • New integration-driven processes are documented, communicated clearly, and adopted across teams.
  • Operational leaders have improved visibility into shared goals, progress, and operational priorities.

What We Offer

  • A high-impact role shaping a major strategic initiative in 2026.
  • Close exposure to senior leadership and strategic decisions.
  • Significant growth opportunities as the business and integration evolve.
  • An inclusive, supportive culture where diverse perspectives are valued.
