Who are we?

We’re a specialist employee benefits provider, striving to create healthy, happy workplaces. As part of the international Unum Group, we’re on a collective mission to help the working world thrive.

The role

What will you be doing?

As an Account Manager, you’ll take ownership of a designated panel of Key Brokers and/or strategic clients. Your focus will be to grow our shared block of business, deepen engagement, and ensure Unum is positioned as the partner of choice.

What will you bring?

You’ll play a central role in retaining and expanding existing business while proactively identifying and supporting new opportunities. Working collaboratively across Unum—particularly with Client Partnerships, underwriting, and executive support teams—you’ll influence strategy, deliver against growth targets, and provide exceptional service to our partners.
This role includes regular travel across the Midlands and South East to meet with Brokers and clients.

Key Responsibilities
•    Own, lead and manage relationships with key Broker firms and/or major client organisations.
•    Deliver on business objectives and revenue/growth targets set by the Chief Distribution Officer.
•    Create robust Broker Account or Client Partnership strategies, ensuring clear and reviewable action plans.
•    Self-manage activities against agreed plans and influence stakeholders to support delivery.
•    Grow and protect the block of business within your designated Broker or client accounts.
•    Support growth of existing business by engaging Brokers on opportunities within their client base.
•    Identify and pursue new business opportunities, engaging early and positioning Unum effectively with end clients.
•    Lead structured meetings with Broker and client partners, utilising data, insights and market intelligence.
•    Maintain high-quality records, ensuring Salesforce is populated with accurate and actionable information.
•    Partner collaboratively across Unum, sharing knowledge and supporting colleagues to succeed.
•    Ensure adherence to all Information Security, Conduct Risk, Consumer Duty, Risk Management and governance expectations.
•    Role-model Unum’s leadership behaviours and values in everything you do.

About You
You’ll bring a combination of technical expertise, relationship-building ability, and commercial drive. Specifically, we’re looking for someone with:
•    Proven experience in financial services sales—ideally Group Risk and intermediated distribution.
•    CII Group Risk qualification (or currently working towards it).
•    Strong leadership presence with the ability to build trust and influence at all levels.
•    Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
•    Strong organisational, prioritisation and project management capabilities.
•    A motivated, resilient and proactive mindset with the ability to thrive in a fast paced environment.
•    Solid understanding of underwriting and risk concepts.
•    Business and market awareness, including competitor insights.
•    A positive, solutions focused outlook with a strong sense of ownership and commitment.

Why join us?

At Unum, we’ve created a workplace where people feel supported to progress and grow, and can see their ambitions coming to life.

We’ve built a supportive, inclusive environment where you can be yourself, whilst also being part of a growing organisation. From charity and volunteer opportunities to career growth, your possibilities are endless.
