About Motorway

Motorway is the UK’s fastest-growing used car marketplace – our award winning, online-only platform connects private car sellers with over 7,500 verified dealers nationwide, who compete to offer the best price. Founded in 2017, our technology makes the process refreshingly easy, earning us an 'Excellent' Trustpilot rating with over 70,000 reviews. We're not just building a platform; we're changing how people sell cars.

Backed by leading investors like Index Ventures and ICONIQ Growth, and following a successful $190 million funding round, we're on a mission to transform the used car market.

About the team

We’re looking for a Strategic Account Manager to join the team. In this role, you’ll build strong relationships with key dealer partners, get to know their needs and challenges inside out, and help them grow their businesses profitably using Motorway's products and services. You'll also work with internal teams, including product, to share dealer feedback and help shape what we do next.

About the role
  • Build trusted relationships with senior executives at the UK’s biggest dealerships, helping them grow profitably using Motorway’s products and services.

  • Clearly explain the Motorway value proposition, tailored to each dealership’s specific needs.

  • Hit sales growth targets and get dealers commercially committed to Motorway.

  • Introduce extra products and services, like Motorway Pay and Motorway Move, to boost dealers’ sales growth.

  • Be the “voice of the dealer” within Motorway, sharing insights to inform both short-term and long-term improvements.

  • Use data and tailor materials to engage different audiences effectively.

  • Drive engagement through pipeline management and smart solution prioritisation.

  • Showcase “best in class” account management routines and practices, balancing short-term responsiveness with a long-term strategic focus.

  • Work effectively with cross-functional teams in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

About you
  • Solid experience in sales, account management, partnership success, or business development.

  • Proven track record of delivering sustained sales growth across partner accounts.

  • Expert in solution selling, pipeline management, and complex corporate account engagement at C-suite/board level.

  • Deep product/service understanding and the ability to become an expert.

  • Experience leading and working cross-functionally across Operations, Product, Tech, and Specialist teams.

  • Ability to contribute insightful ideas to internal business priorities.

  • Experience in Automotive is a plus, but not essential.

You could be a great fit if
  • You’re highly motivated and results-oriented, with a real drive to succeed.

  • You’re a strategic thinker with exceptional communication and relationship-building skills.

  • You’re great at navigating complex sales cycles and engaging with senior stakeholders.

  • You thrive in a fast-paced environment and enjoy collaborating with cross-functional teams.

  • You’re passionate about the automotive industry and genuinely interested in helping dealerships grow.

This role offers a hybrid work model, blending remote work with essential in-person collaboration. You'll typically have the opportunity to work from home a few days week, with one day dedicated to travel to our London office and one day travelling to connect with our dealers across the UK. Given a significant portion of our dealer network is located in the Midlands and North of England, this role could be ideal for candidates based in or near these regions

What you can expect
  • A flexible work environment with 1-2 days in the office and at least one day on the road visiting dealers.

  • A unique opportunity to make a real difference in a fast-growing scale-up.

  • The chance to work with and learn from a team of talented colleagues.

  • A role where you get to sell some of the best products in the industry.

  • A fantastic commission structure and the support you need to succeed.

Interview process
  • Initial Screen with Talent Team - 30 minutes

  • Hiring Manager Interview - 45 minutes

  • Account Management Task - 60 minutes

  • Executive Interview - 60 minutes

We’ll get back to you within a week of each interview stage. You can chat with a talent partner throughout the process if you have any questions or need any kind of accommodations.
