Description
The Statutory Reporting and Tax Specialist is responsible for the preparation, coordination, and submission of statutory financial, tax, and regulatory reporting requirements for multiple countries within the sub-region. The role partners with internal finance teams and external stakeholders to ensure compliance with local regulations and corporate policies.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare and deliver complete and accurate statutory financial reports, including statutory audits, VAT returns, corporation tax returns, transfer pricing documentation, Country-by-Country Reporting, and other local statutory filings as required.
  • Plan and coordinate statutory reporting activities to ensure all reports and submissions are completed within established deadlines.
  • Liaise with external stakeholders including audit firms, tax authorities, banks, insurance providers, chambers of commerce, and company registries.
  • Partner with finance teams to ensure reporting requirements are completed accurately and on time.
  • Work with professional services firms to define, document, and maintain compliance with local statutory requirements across the sub-region.
  • Collaborate with FP&A teams to support implementation of corporate finance policies and procedures.
  • Prepare monthly tax-related journal entries in coordination with the corporate tax department.
  • Support month-end reporting activities and completion of Month-End Packs (MEP).
  • Complete periodic internal compliance checklists and implement corrective actions as appropriate.
  • Provide company secretarial support, including annual returns, board minutes, and other legal entity governance requirements.
  • Ensure government filings and statistical submissions are completed accurately and within required timelines.
  • Monitor compliance with loan agreements and related tax matters, including withholding tax and transfer pricing requirements.
  • Collaborate with Treasury and Finance teams on initiatives related to cash repatriation, capitalization, dividends, and other treasury-related activities.
  • Act as the primary contact for banking administration activities, including opening and closing bank accounts and maintaining authorized signatory records.
  • Partner with Corporate Tax and regional finance teams to support tax optimization and compliance initiatives.
  • Lead or support tax planning and compliance projects related to corporation tax, VAT, withholding tax, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Support business projects requiring specialized tax, legal entity, or regulatory expertise, including entity creation, VAT registration, and deregistration activities.
  • Perform additional duties as reasonably required.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, or equivalent), or equivalent professional experience.
  • Experience preparing, completing, and submitting statutory accounts, corporation tax returns, VAT returns, and related regulatory filings for complex organizations.
  • Experience working independently with external stakeholders including auditors, tax authorities, and professional service providers.
  • Knowledge of financial reporting standards, corporate taxation, VAT regulations, and related compliance requirements in at least one European country.
  • Experience supporting company secretarial and legal entity governance activities.
  • Ability to analyze complex accounting and financial issues and recommend appropriate accounting treatments.
  • Advanced proficiency with ERP systems, financial software, spreadsheets, databases, word processing, and presentation tools.
  • Fluent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities while maintaining quality and accuracy.
  • Ability to learn and apply regulatory requirements across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Ability to work flexible hours when required to meet business needs.
