As a Staff Software Engineer, you’ll play a pivotal role in leading our technology strategy for our Cloud Migration & Application Modernising team that enables Cloud adoption for the rest of the Bank.  We’re Agile, product aligned, and work shift left and full cycle engineering (you design, code, deploy/automate, and maintain – you own what you build). 

Using your .Net (C#) and cloud (AWS) expertise you’ll migrate and modernise complex applications used to power our entire business, advising, designing and delivering cutting-edge technologies to ensure our cloud capabilities remain at the forefront of innovation. 

You'll be helping all CBA Business Units to adopt and deliver applications at scale by leveraging standard hosting patterns to make our systems simpler, faster and more secure. In doing so, you will be helping the application teams with troubleshooting their application deployments from their code, the web servers and the cloud deployments.

We’re interested in hearing from people who

  • Are .Net (C#) and Cloud experts and well versed in Software Development Kit (SDK) and runtime environments

  • Drive innovative solution design based on their architectural knowledge

  • Develop and deploying high quality software solutions and systems design

  • Lead solution design discussions, while uplifting engineering capability and steering global engineering best practice across engineering communities

  • Can bring their expertise of the infrastructure that runs .NET applications – IIS, Web Servers, Kestrel, Containers, etc.

  • Are passionate about full cycle software engineering, DevOps/Automation, embedding and accelerating the shift left approach

  • Enjoy being hands-on the tools, using their debugging and troubleshooting skills on .Net and solve complex problems in a systematic approach (e.g. using PowerShell)

  • Support various application teams to ensure the stability and security of the cloud platform

Tech skills

We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We don’t expect you to know them all but having significant experience and exposure with some of these (or equivalents) will set you up for success in this team

  • C# and .NET / .NetCore, Python, shell scripting, PowerShell etc.

  • Cloud technologies (AWS)

  • Microservices architecture and RESTful APIs

  • Infrastructure as code and automating tooling

  • CI/CD tooling such as GitHub, TeamCity, Artifactory, Octopus Deploy

  • Logging & monitoring: CloudWatch, AppDynamics, Splunk, Grafana and Prometheus
