In this role, you will define the end-to-end services, tools, and platforms for our internal R&D teams and external customers. This is a hands-on practitioner role where you'll have the opportunity to influence the direction of business-critical initiatives and customer journeys across Spotify.


You will work closely with collaborators from business, product, design, and technology areas to help Spotify teams improve their capabilities and approaches. Additionally, you will contribute to the creation of forward-thinking visions and strategies. Your efforts will support the expansion of Spotify's product and service offerings, catering to both major product development companies and individual developers.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the definition and delivery of service and product design projects
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, designers, researchers, and business partners to build coherent end-to-end services
  • Show the value of a multidisciplinary perspective, and build upon the expertise of our dedicated design team
  • Help define the vision for the Spotify development experience and the growth of future Backstage value propositions
  • Conduct research to inform internal tools, processes, and capabilities required to deliver on customer experiences, platform initiatives, and strategies
  • Define and visualise current and future customer experiences with relevant artefacts such as service standards, frameworks, personas, maps and blueprints, and customer experience strategies
  • Rapidly design, prototype, and test concepts for services and products based on a deep understanding of business and customer needs, channels, and technology
  • Plan and lead co-creation workshops and community events with internal and external customer teams, collaborators, distribution partners, and open-source users
  • You’ll be an advocate for and help support our Design Systems strategy and will drive it forward with an iterative approach in mind
  • Help service owners and partners identify and understand bottlenecks and make recommendations to drive improvements
  • Lead design practice rituals and develop new standards to mature the craft of the Platform design team
  • Show - don’t tell. Use the power of rendering and crafted storytelling to support product excellence, innovation and team alignment

Who You Are

  • Extensive experience in crafting products and services - preferably within the Enterprise tech sector with a high level of visual and UI experience. (Agency experience is an advantage)
  • Track record of crafting functional but also beautiful experiences that users love
  • Equally comfortable working through sophisticated flows, crafting visually stunning interfaces, storytelling through motion, and all the fields of design required to support the work
  • Data-informed - recommendations and design work are deeply rooted in experimentation and evidence
  • Comfortable starting from ambiguity and driving clarity from complexity. Works autonomously or within a design squad
  • Balances user and business centricity equally
  • Outstanding communicator, storyteller, and facilitator. Brings people together and builds a shared understanding, with an encouraging vision and narrative
  • Experience in defining strategies that support teams through product pivots - such as experience visions, scenario planning, future casting, service prototyping, or similar
  • Enjoys mentoring others to give and ask for honest and critical feedback
  • Builds positive relationships with cross-functional partners
  • Develops standard methodologies for engaging across teams within the organisation
  • Drives inclusion and equity within their wider Product Area/domain. Holds others accountable for non-inclusive behaviours and builds a psychologically safe environment

  • This role will be in London, UK or Stockholm, Sweden
