- This is an opportunity for a technically minded Software Engineer to join our Ventures business, where digital, innovation and strategy comes together
- Work alongside technology leadership to drive the setting and adoption of engineering standards and promote innovation
- Work with customer-focused agile squads and collaborate with product managers, architects and engineers to define the next iteration of NatWest Boxed
You’ll own the technical design and architecture for the most complex, mission-critical projects as well as be hands-on by owning the end-to-end implementation and delivery of the most complex, technical modules.
You’ll also:
- Enable our teams to leverage industry best practice and ship value to customers at pace
- Work collaboratively across the business to resolve technical issues
- Work with stakeholders across the business to shape the future of engineering at NatWest Boxed and put the long-term interests of our customers at the heart of key decisions
- Proactively identify key operational issues, partner with engineering teams to resolve them, and drive continuous improvement of operational hygiene
You’ll need a strong background in software engineering, software design and architecture, as well as extensive experience of developing software in a SOA or micro-services paradigm. You should also have proven technical leadership experience for one or more teams and a background of implementing best practice, especially around scalability, availability and performance.
You’ll also need:
- Track-record of proactively identifying and solving business problems
- Technical leadership experience of one or more features and projects
- Ability to effectively deliver value when faced with ambiguous problems
- Ability to act as a subject matter expert and communicate with clarity and empathy to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Understanding how to translate business objectives into data driven insights that can then be leveraged by a team to produce better outcomes
- Expert-level practical and theoretical knowledge of software development and substantial experience of message-driven architectures
