About Us

At Blank Street, we believe that rituals matter and that great rituals make your life better. With 80+ coffee shops across the US and UK, we are working to transform the high-street grab-and-go coffee transaction into an experience that is higher in quality, hospitality, and joy.

About the Role

Blank Street is looking for a meticulous and proactive Staff Accountant to support and enhance our UK Accounting operations.
As a key contributor to our Finance team, you’ll play a critical role in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance, and driving efficiency in our accounting processes.
Your expertise will help strengthen Blank Street’s financial foundation, providing essential support to both our Field and HQ teams.
In this role, you’ll take ownership of general ledger maintenance, reconciliations, financial reporting, and month-end close activities while collaborating across departments to streamline workflows. You’ll be hands-on, detail-oriented, and solutions-driven, contributing to the continuous improvement of our financial processes.

Our Values

  • Magic is in the Details: We value attention to detail in everything we do. We're always thinking about the small things that make a moment meaningful.
  • Move as One: We value people who strive to be the best team player, not individual stars.
  • “My Home is your Home”: We look for individuals who treat others the same way they'd treat a guest in their home. We care about presentation, hospitality, and having fun even when things are stressful.

What You’ll Own

1. Delivering Accurate & Reliable Financial Reporting

  • Support the production of timely, precise, and UK GAAP-compliant financial statements, ensuring accuracy and transparency.
  • Assist in maintaining and implementing robust accounting policies and internal controls.
  • Prepare and organize documentation for external audits, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and financial best practices.

2. Powering Financial Operations

  • Manage essential financial operations—including accounts payable, payroll processing, and general ledger reconciliation—to maintain efficiency and accuracy.
  • Support month-end and year-end close activities, ensuring a smooth and timely process.
  • Identify process improvements, enhance efficiency, and contribute to the continuous optimization of financial operations.

3. Strengthening Financial Insights & Strategy

  • Analyse financial data to uncover insights that support informed business decisions and long-term growth.
  • Assist in navigating complex accounting transactions, ensuring adherence to best practices and company policies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to refine and improve financial workflows.

4. Fostering Strong Financial Relationships

  • Work closely with finance leadership and key stakeholders—both internal and external—to ensure alignment and transparency.
  • Provide operational support to management, offering expertise on accounting matters.
  • Uphold best practices in financial controls, ensuring the company’s financial integrity and compliance with accounting standards.

Who You Are

  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; working towards or completion of a CPA / ACA / ACCA is preferred.
  • 3+ years of accounting experience, ideally with a mix of public accounting (Big 4 or mid-tier firm) and industry experience in retail, hospitality, or a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and effectively communicate solutions while collaborating across teams.
  • Solid technical accounting knowledge, including UK GAAP principles, general ledger reconciliations, intercompany transactions, and month-end close processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including VLOOKUPs and Pivot Tables, with the ability to manipulate and analyze financial data effectively.
  • Nice-to-have skills: Familiarity with US GAAP, experience working with NetSuite and/or Coupa, and exposure to audit processes.

Benefits

  • Private health and dental insurance
  • 25 Days annual leave (exclusive of Bank Holidays)
  • Exclusive access to our coveted Regulars program – yes, that means free matcha and more! ☕✨
  • A great culture with regular team events
  • Equity package

*This in-person role, based at our London office, will report directly to the UK Finance Director.
