About the Role

The Strategic Spatial Energy Plan (SSEP) is GB’s first long-term spatial energy plan. It will provide strategic direction for the future energy system in Great Britain (GB), supporting economic growth, energy security and the development of the industries, supply chains and workforce needed to deliver the energy transition.

The SSEP’s Strategy team has responsibility to ensure the strategic design, development and delivery of the SSEP. Working in an agile way, and within a dynamic and high pace environment, you will help shape the future of the GB energy system by providing strategic insight to inform energy pathway decisions and sector direction.

As Senior Strategy Analyst you will bring your strong strategic instincts, technical knowledge (e.g. energy system understanding, quantitative analysis, modelling literacy across spatial and/or economic) and leadership capability to shape and resolve complex, first of their kind challenges that influence NESO’s delivery of the SSEP. Working across the programme, and with a wide range of stakeholders (e.g. government, NESO experts, external parties) you will draw insights together and provide clear direction, build alignment and lead activities that directly inform the development and delivery of GB’s first ever strategic spatial energy plan. As a subject matter expert you will also help strengthen a high-performing multidisciplinary team, whilst creating cohesion across strategic and technical workstreams.

This role can be based from Wokingham or Warwick, and we continue to offer hybrid working from office and home. We are open to full time and part-time applicants, as well as flexible working arrangements.

Key Accountabilities

  • Strategic Design - You will lead strategic initiatives (design, development, delivery) and complex problem solving to address the root causes of priority SSEP challenges. You will set the approach for applying holistic, design and systems thinking to create processes, inform decisions and provide direction on key strategic activities.
  • Strategic Content & Communication - You will lead the development of compelling, narrative-driven presentations, materials and content (including key reports) for a wide range of stakeholders (internal, external, executive, public). You will shape the overall narrative and synthesise expert input into clear, high-quality strategic content.
  • Stakeholder Management, Engagement & Alignment - You will build trusted relationships that enable you to shape priorities, define strategic collaboration (e.g. across NESO expert teams) and secure alignment on key areas of SSEP delivery.
  • Technical Coordination & Alignment – As a subject matter expert, you will lead development, improvement and execution of key SSEP processes that have a high level of technical analysis and interpretation, such as the methodologies for pathway selection and refinement.
  • Team Leadership - You will act as a leader and subject matter expert within the team, setting standards, sharing best practice, guiding colleagues and representing the team at internal and external forums as required.

Applicants must have the right to work in the UK by the start of employment. Visa sponsorship may not be available for this role and will be considered in line with business requirements.
