About the Role:

PitchBook News is a growing team of writers and editors who produce compelling journalism with original insights. We shine a light on fascinating people, companies, and market trends, leveraging our best-in-class datasets on the private equity and venture capital markets to engage our audience. PitchBook's News team is looking for a Sr. Sub-Editor, News with an impeccable attention to detail, exceptional communication skills, and experience in business and financial news, and enthusiasm for breaking news, the written word, and teamwork. You will be responsible for editing, producing, and performing general quality assurance on PitchBook's newsletter and articles covering the private markets.


Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Edit articles and newsletters for an audience of professionals working in private equity and venture capital; rewrite and reshape headlines and leads to engage and inform readers
  • Ensure that stories meet PitchBook editorial standards for accuracy, spelling, and grammar
  • Help prioritize daily editing assignments within a global editing team 
  • Collaborate with other editors to execute on PitchBook News’ content strategy and continue developing best practices for content production and publication
  • Follow and enforce editing standards across multiple content types and content management systems
  • Produce and publish newsletters using PitchBook production systems
  • Edit data visualizations for accuracy and style consistency
  • Train and help develop newer copy editors and early-career writers
  • Use project management tools to plan and execute publication processes
  • Help coordinate with cross-functional teams to manage the placement of sponsored or PitchBook promotional content into the newsletter
  • Support the vision and values of the company through role modeling and encouraging desired behaviors
  • Participate in various company initiatives and projects as requested


Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 3+ years of editing experience in a financial news environment
  • Passion for private capital markets, including private equity, venture capital, and private credit
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiarity with financial markets, terminology, and content
  • Previous experience working with data or data-driven content
  • Familiarity with online content management systems and basic project management software
  • Familiarity with Associated Press or in-house style guides
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite

Working Conditions:

We believe our business and our culture are strongest when we work together in person. We also know that it’s helpful to have some flexibility to work remotely. Most roles work in the office 3+ days/week, and some are expected to work in the office 4-5 days/week. The current expectation for this role is that you are working in the office 3+ days/week and that you are in the office full-time during the training period, for which the length varies by role. During an initial phone screen, the team will discuss expectations for this specific position.

The job conditions for this position are in a standard office setting. Employees in this position use PC and phone on an on-going basis throughout the day. Limited corporate travel may be required to remote offices or other business meetings and events.
