The National Systems Group serves as the technical advisor to the Intelligence Community and its mission partners involved in the collection and distribution of national and tactical intelligence, including electronics programs, advanced technologies, ground and communications, imagery programs, and systems engineering and launch.
The Advanced Technology Directorate/Advanced Systems Department is seeking an innovative Sr. Software Architecture Lead (Sr. Project Leader- Software Architecture and Systems Software Engineering) to work on the nation's leading research and development challenges for future ISR architectures. The Advanced Systems Department helps customers architect transformative systems and capabilities. The work involves traditional ground systems as well as innovating new architectures for end-to-end systems. Our next team member will have the opportunity to influence an organization developing and operating high priority, transformational demonstration systems.
Work Model
This is a full-time position based in Chantilly, VA, which requires 100% onsite work.
What You'll Be Doing

  • Exploring solutions to advance software architecture for future systems.
  • Leading a portfolio of projects to apply Aerospace expertise to support development of new capabilities for altitude agnostic systems.
  • Identifying novel solutions for enterprise level problems.
  • Work directly with Government, other FFRDC and SETA staff to design and implement ground-breaking roadmaps and strategy.
  • Help coordinate the Aerospace team's software support across the customer's portfolio
  • Act as spokesperson for the working group to customers
  • Develop effective recommendations and strategies to advance customer vision, including identifying new areas for research and leveraging Aerospace capabilities for innovation to inform this advice.
  • Act as a senior mentor to team members.


What You Need to be Successful
Minimum Requirements for the Sr. Project Leader- Software Architecture and Systems Software Engineering
Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering, mathematics, or science field

  • A Bachelor's degree in a STEM field or related discipline
  • A minimum of 10 years engineering experience.
  • Experience with modern software development methodologies (i.e. - agile, SAFe).
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Strong personal initiative.
  • Experience leading and completing projects within a matrixed organization.
  • Ability to work closely with government management.
  • This position requires a current and active TS/SCI security clearance and polygraph, which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and conduct/lead technical studies aligned with customer capabilities portfolio framework.
