Job Description:

Alation seeks a Principal Product Marketing Manager to join our high-impact Product Marketing Team, reporting to the VP of Product Marketing as an individual contributor.

As the leading Agentic Data Intelligence Platform, Alation enables organizations to deliver trusted data and AI products that drive business value. Our platform connects to hundreds of data sources, creating a seamless data ecosystem where metadata is ingested, analyzed, and surfaced to provide actionable insights. What types of data and AI products can be created? How are data products and agentic AI applications enriched and contextualized with metadata? What unique architecture and capabilities make Alation’s platform the foundation for reliable, business-ready data? And why do so many partners integrate through Alation’s open APIs and new AI Agent SDK to enhance data and AI products across diverse use cases?

Your role will be to tell this story—demonstrating how Alation empowers organizations to deliver value through data.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Develop positioning, messaging, enablement material, and other content (blogs, whitepapers, webinars, and product demos) centered around Alation’s unique agentic data intelligence capabilities, focusing on metadata management, data cataloging, self-service analytics, and data products.

  • Represent Alation’s strategy and differentiated capabilities with industry analysts who cover the Metadata Management and Enterprise Data Catalog markets

  • Understand the buyer's journey and work closely with integrated campaigns to create compelling narratives that appeal to target personas.

  • Become a trusted advisor to product management, demand generation, field marketing, content marketing, sales, and other teams to build alignment around customer needs, messaging, launches, and announcements.

  • Partner with Product Management, providing input into the product roadmap while at the same time deeply understanding and communicating the value of existing platform capabilities and integrations.

  • Collaborate with Professional Services and other internal teams to develop technical content that explains how Alation and trusted AI data stack components work together to deliver value for our customers.

  • Perform actionable customer and competitive research and data analysis to identify opportunities, guide decisions, and measure performance.

You Should Have:

  • A product marketing or solution engineering background in data analytics, AI, data cataloging, data governance, and/or metadata management.

  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in B2B software as a PMM or equivalent.

  • Technical fluency: You understand the importance of metadata management and data cataloging in driving the value of AI and analytics. You can confidently discuss the nuances of these topics with product managers and data professionals, bridging technical capabilities with business value.

  • The ability to create product demos for use in sales enablement and marketing campaigns.

  • Experience leading industry analyst briefings and RFIs to best represent a company’s strategy, products, and services.

  • Market and competitive analysis experience to aggregate inputs and present market and customer requirements to product management to help define product requirements.

  • Superb written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and concisely to a broad range of audiences.

  • Experience navigating competing priorities, including input/feedback from multiple internal and external stakeholders.

  • The ability (and desire) to work and learn in a rapidly changing startup environment.

  • The ability (and desire) to learn new technologies and how those technologies can and should be used to solve real-world problems.
