The Sr. Instructional Designer coaches and mentors the instructional design staff; providing thought leadership surrounding learning design, incorporating a holistic and modern view of strategies, design principles, modalities, and learning needs in delivering business objectives. Additionally, the Sr. Instructional Designer is an active Instructional Designer. This role supports the field organization in meeting its performance and organizational objectives.
As a Sr. Instructional Designer, your responsibilities will include:
- Function as an instructional designer (ID), meeting the responsibilities and accountabilities of the ID role.
- Leads and participates in the peer review process.
- Work closely with learning technology, marketing, legal, and compliance teams regarding requirements.
- Consult with the field learning strategy team to understand needs and make recommendations for solving business objectives through learning design.
- Collaborate with partners to manage projects by building project plans and align them to timelines and milestones; drive design projects to completion within established benchmarks; actively identify and communicate the root causes of risks to design timelines; work with the field learning strategy team to resolve them; and recommend solutions.
- Proactively communicates information learned at formal and informal meetings.
- Works with instructional design staff to create a design plan for project introduction.
- Collaborate with management to develop and implement a learning design framework and work to establish/conduct an outside-in approach to modernizing learning approaches and program life cycle.
- Be a catalyst for change - lead and participate in process and design ratio improvement.
The Sr. Instructional Designer position is well-suited for you if you:
- Possesses a design service organization mindset, able to see how their role and projects fit into the larger learning strategy and field sales organization.
- Ability to coach, mentor, and provide feedback to new and experienced instruction designers.
- Skilled communicator—possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to present his/her views clearly and compellingly.
- Skilled in working with and communicating with key stakeholders.
- Excellent time management skills with a focus on instructional coordination.
- Strong knowledge of instructional design principles and techniques.
- Effective in working in a matrixed organization.
- Ability to work well under deadlines and within established design ratios.
- Ability to recognize and make recommendations for improving design workflows and design ratios.
- Proficient with a variety of course authoring tools, including but not limited to: Captivate, Articulate, and Articulate Storyline. Propensity for action.
What you’ll need:
- Bachelor's Degree or 8 years of experience in instructional design or related field of study.
- 5 years of experience in instructional design
- 2 years of experience in overseeing or mentoring instructional design work
What will set you apart:
- Masters Degree in related field or experience in instructional design or related field of study.
- 7 years of experience in instructional design
- 2 years of experience in overseeing or mentoring instructional design work, financial services industry experience preferred.
- Graphic design experience preferred, audio and video editing experience preferred.
