Position Overview:   

The Contract Senior Corporate Attorney, Privacy partners with the Director, Privacy to oversee Entrust’s global privacy program.  The Senior Corporate Attorney must be organized, efficient and flexible; work well under pressure; understand highly technical products and services; develop strong, cross-functional partnerships; and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities: 

The following represent the key responsibilities of the role as they exist today.  This role may expand to include responsibilities that may be new to the Senior Corporate Attorney.

  • Work closely with our Product and Engineering teams to ensure privacy by design and ongoing compliance with biometric, privacy, AI and cyber security laws and regulations.

  • Develop and improve Entrust’s privacy compliance program to meet requirements of existing and emerging laws.

  • Advise colleagues across our business on customer-facing matters such as coordinating responses to customer privacy and security concerns including AI governance and transfer impact assessments, communicating Entrust’s privacy compliance and safeguards.

  • Supporting the wider legal, procurement and growth teams with client deals including being a point of escalation for contract negotiations.

  • Respond to day-to-day privacy queries from across the Entrust business including on Product, HR, Contracts, Client queries, End User and Law Enforcement requests.

  • Lead on privacy vendor due diligence and ongoing vendor management matters, undertaking risk assessments, developing supplier privacy compliance frameworks and managing records of processing including client notifications.

  • Work collaboratively with key stakeholders, including Product, Marketing, Compliance, Legal, Strategy, HR and Information Security teams, setting clear accountabilities and policies for data protection.

  • Create and deliver training program, legal resources and contribute to our playbooks.

  • Monitor global privacy, AI and biometric regulation and policy developments, advise on risks and opportunities arising from emerging laws and help drive Entrust’s policy positions.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 8+ years’ experience in-house or at a top law firm (with secondment experience), with a solid focus in data protection matters

  • Demonstrable experience of leading on a range of privacy projects and issues

  • Expertise in advising on UK and EU GDPR, ideally in a fast-paced technology company, financial services company or other regulated industry

  • Strong commercial acumen; able to take a pragmatic approach to legal risk and advise the business accordingly

  • Skilled at collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders across all levels of the business.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Strong team player and can-do approach; no job is too big or too small

  • Enjoy working in a fast-paced, dynamic business

  • Qualified to practise law in the UK or equivalent jurisdiction

  • Interest in technology

  • Must be able to lawfully work within the jurisdiction where the colleague resides

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior in-house experience within a high-growth technology company.

  • Familiarity and working knowledge of other global data protection regimes including US state laws.

  • Experience with data risk management and/or supporting audits from a privacy perspective.

  • CIPP/E or equivalent.
