About eBay Live

eBay Live is redefining how people shop, blending entertainment, community, and real-time selling into a dynamic livestream experience. It’s a startup-style innovation engine inside one of the world’s largest marketplaces, powered by four interconnected engines: supply, demand, product, and operations.
A world-class supply base is critical for high-quality content and for scaling live commerce globally. Business Development is the front door to this ecosystem. We’re looking for a Head of Business Development to build and scale the seller acquisition engine for eBay Live.

About the Role and Team

The Head of Business Development will lead teams responsible for sourcing, recruiting, vetting, and activating the right sellers across categories and geographies. This role ensures eBay Live has the content density, quality, and category coverage needed to drive GMV and buyer engagement.
You will lead the BD motion, including strategy, pipeline development, funnel management, cross-functional alignment, and team leadership for ebay Live.

What you will Accomplish:

Seller Acquisition Strategy & Pipeline Leadership

  • Define and implement the global strategy to source and recruit high-potential sellers across priority categories and markets.
  • Build and manage a multi-channel pipeline (enterprise outreach, SMB pros, communities, trade shows, referrals, digital signals).
  • Ensure alignment with category priorities to close supply gaps and support category expansion.

Seller Qualification, Vetting & Category Fit

  • Own the seller vetting framework, evaluating identity, intent, inventory, live-commerce capability, reputation, and trust signals.
  • Partner with Category Managers to ensure each recruited seller meets the needs of the category’s demand, content density, and growth objectives.
  • Define clear readiness criteria for handoff to Onboarding & Activation.

Funnel Performance, Process Design & Cross-Functional Execution

  • Manage BD funnel performance across all stages: lead > vetted > contracted > onboarded > activated.
  • Build the operating model and handoff processes with Onboarding & Activation and Account Management to enhance seller success and reduce leakage.
  • Work with Legal and Operations to streamline contracting and reduce friction.
  • Partner with Product to share seller insights and influence tooling improvements.

Team Leadership & Capability Building

  • Lead, coach, and scale a team of BD Managers.
  • Establish a “hunter” culture rooted in ownership, quality sourcing, data-driven prioritization, and performance accountability.
  • Build training, playbooks, and an incentive structure that supports high-velocity, high-quality seller acquisition.
  • Help shape hiring plans and support the expansion of eBay Live into new markets and categories.

What you will bring

  • 5+ years in Business Development, Sales, Partnerships, or Marketplace Growth.
  • Experience sourcing and acquiring high-value partners or sellers at scale.
  • Strong analytical and funnel-optimization skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to get results in fast paced, ambiguous environments.
  • Strong cross-functional leadership across Product, Legal, Ops, and Category teams.
  • Proven people management experience.
Nice to Have
  • Experience in enthusiast categories (collectibles, trading cards, fashion, electronics, etc.).
  • Experience with “hunter” sales motions and incentive-based teams.
  • Experience with global or distributed teams.
  • Prior exposure to livestream commerce, creator ecosystems, or digital marketplaces.
