👋 A little about us

GitBook is a documentation platform that empowers companies to deliver a top tier product experience through amazing documentation.

GitBook is a fully remote company with a team distributed between Europe, North America, and Asia. As a small team, we’re all generalists and constantly picking up new challenges. When it comes to code, we’re looking to work with experienced people who can pick a problem and solve it.

🙌 Job overview

When it comes to go-to-market, we're focused on making GitBook the go-to docs solution for large companies. This growing segment of our user base has more complex requirements, so we need someone to own the technical implementations for our key customers.

As a Solutions Engineer, you’ll be the bridge between our customers, sales, and product teams. Leveraging your deep understanding of the GitBook product and customer needs, you will help prospects and existing customers maximize the value from our tool.

✍️ What you will be doing

  • Be the technical expert for sales and prospects, deeply understanding the GitBook product

  • Joining customer calls to understand the deepest 'why' behind their product needs & requests

  • Distill down feedback and relay customer insights to our product team

  • Onboard customers onto our more technical features (e.g. Git sync, OpenAPI, Adaptive content)

  • Build automation to assist with large scale content migrations

  • Build out custom integrations to unblock customer adoption

  • Identify opportunities for scaling your efforts to our wider customer base via documentation and guides, ensuring clarity on best practices and product capabilities

🫶You will be valued for
  • Your product-oriented approach: You are driven by creating value for our users through education. You enjoy diving headfirst into a product and learning the ins and outs through resourcefulness.

  • Your infinite curiosity: You want to understand customer requirements at the deepest level. Instead of taking feedback at face value, you dive deeper to understand the true nature of customer feedback and will always ask for specifics.

  • Your amazing communication: You are comfortable owning a customer call end-to-end. You lead with empathy, but can also toe the line between being a customer advocate and knowing how to set expectations properly.

  • Your beginner's mindset and proactiveness: You're a hustler who takes initiative and doesn't make assumptions that copy-pasting what worked for you in the past will work at GitBook. You actively identify opportunities for improvement and own the implementation from start to finish.

🏢 Your profile
  • 3-5 years experience in client-facing roles, including technical consulting, product demonstrations, and implementation support

  • Strong understanding of OpenAPI specifications, API design principles (including RESTful APIs, Swagger, and OAuth2), GitHub, and common web technologies

  • Proficiency in programming languages such as JavaScript, or similar, with the ability to work on API integrations and custom implementations

  • Deep understanding of GitHub and CI/CD pipelines

  • You are customer-centric and data-driven, think analytically and are able to rightsize your efforts based on customer/business needs

  • Strong communication skills to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders effectively

  • Native English speaker

📋 The hiring process

First, we will take the time to review your application and we will get back to you within a week, regardless of our decision. We know that your time is valuable so we work to move the process along quickly and keep it casual. We're not believers in "gotcha" questions or checking for skills you'll never actually use at GitBook.

Here's what our process will look like:

  1. Discovery Call (30 min) with our People Team to look for healthy alignment

  2. Hiring Manager interview (60 min) with Dave, our Sales Lead, to learn more about your experience and technical skills

  3. Technical exercise and peer presentation (60 min) you will be given an assignment to unblock a hypothetical customer. You will have time to create a solution and present it on a call with a few team members from GitBook

  4. CEO Interview (45 min) for healthy alignment and final call.

*This process is not set in stone, we might add steps to the process as we go along, like a work sample. We will make sure to keep you posted!

👥 Join GitBook

You will be joining during a pivotal moment for GitBook. We've enjoyed great success since we were founded, and now we're taking conscious steps to take our company to the next level. That means you will have the opportunity to build, positively impact the trajectory of the company and enjoy the benefits of helping grow our company 20x. Every single team member is a value addition to our culture, so it's important for us to state our cultural principles:

  • 🏗 Keep it simple

  • 🤝 Transparency

  • 🙋‍♀️ Care (Give a sh*t)

  • 🚀 Bias towards impactful action

Come make your mark on building the future of work with us.

What you need to know about the London Tech Scene
