Solutions Engineer, Payments Infrastructure

Formance builds programmable financial infrastructure. Our open-source ledger helps engineering teams model, track, and reconcile money movements across financial products, from payment platforms to fintech applications and digital-asset businesses.

Financial infrastructure requires precision. Teams need to understand where money is, how it moves, and whether their systems reflect what actually happened. We build the tools to help them answer those questions.

We’re looking for a Solutions Engineer with a strong technical foundation and experience in fintech or payments to join our team.

You’ll work with prospective customers to understand their architecture, map their financial flows, and demonstrate how Formance fits their requirements. You’ll partner closely with our sales, product, and engineering teams throughout the evaluation process.

This role combines technical depth with commercial judgment. You should be comfortable building a proof of concept, discussing architectural tradeoffs with an engineer, and explaining the business implications to a founder.

• Lead technical discovery with engineering and product teams to understand their financial workflows, constraints, and evaluation criteria.

• Build tailored demos and proofs of concept using Formance’s APIs and tooling.

• Guide technical evaluations, investigate questions, and help prospects assess product fit.

• Partner with sales to connect technical capabilities to business needs and move opportunities forward.

• Bring customer feedback to product and engineering, with concrete examples of gaps and recurring needs.

• Experience in fintech, payments, banking infrastructure, or digital-asset infrastructure. You understand how money moves through a financial product and the operational challenges involved.

• A strong technical foundation. You can work with APIs, read and write code, debug integrations, and reason about data models and system architecture.

• Experience working directly with customers, through solutions engineering, solutions architecture, technical consulting, or an engineering role with significant customer exposure.

• The ability to ask precise questions, uncover requirements, and explain complex concepts clearly.

• Commercial judgment: you understand how a technical evaluation contributes to a buying decision.

• A hands-on approach and the ability to work independently in a small team.

• Strong written and spoken English, with the ability to lead technical conversations with international customers.

• Working with ledgers, double-entry accounting, reconciliation, or payment orchestration.

• Supporting technical evaluations for API-first or developer-facing products.

• Building financial workflows involving multiple currencies, payment providers, or digital assets.

• Turning recurring customer questions into reusable demos, documentation, or tools.

You’ll work directly with teams building financial products and help them make consequential infrastructure decisions.

You’ll have ownership of technical evaluations, close access to product and engineering, and the opportunity to shape how we demonstrate and explain Formance. Your work will influence both customer decisions and the product we build.
