Solutions Actuary
Corporate Risk Solutions (CRS) is part of M&G growing Life insurance business and responsible for building and delivering innovative de-risking solutions to meet the complex needs of corporate and institutional customers. The Proposition & Operations team within CRS is responsible for developing and delivering these solutions ensuring that they meet the needs of the customer whilst achieving the commercial ambitions of M&G.
Solution Actuaries within CRS will take ownership of particular developments and provide leadership and guidance through the innovation, development and execution stage of the development and the onboarding of new customers. They will work closely with colleagues across CRS and the wider business to overcome obstacles allowing developments to reach market in a timely fashion. Over time as the product portfolio within CRS grows, Solution Actuaries will also play a key role in ensuring that we exercise appropriate product oversight and that the business is achieving commercial targets.
Key Responsibilities for this role:
- Key role in the development of the proposition strategy and prioritised roadmap for Corporate Risk Solutions including the development of innovative solution
- Working closely with colleagues across the business to innovate and improve CRS solutions to meet the needs of customers in the pension and corporate de-risking market
- Manage the development and delivery of new solutions building relationships with senior leadership across the organisation including engagement with impacted legal entities
- Supporting distribution and transaction management colleagues with the production of high quality client deliverables and wider relationship management activities
- Supporting senior stakeholders across M&G Life with technical analysis, strategy, business planning and ad hoc queries
- Manage existing propositions, solutions and deals to ensure that they continue to deliver appropriate customer outcomes, deliver on commercial objectives and are subject to appropriate ongoing product oversight and governance
- Working with colleagues from across the business and outsourcing partners to integrate commercial, investment, longevity, reinsurance, balance sheet management and structuring workstreams into solution development projects
- Drive continuous improvement through innovation and the seeking out and acting on new opportunities
- Work closely with the wider business to develop agile processes that are scalable for future deal volumes. Develop and maintain commercial pricing targets and ensure compliance for all new and ongoing deals
- Manage commercial outsourcing arrangements
- Study mentoring and wider development support to junior team members
Key Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
- Commercially minded Actuary with exceptional technical skills
- Experience of developing, structuring or managing solutions in life insurances, pensions or investments
- Experience of bulk annuity pricing, funded reinsurance, longevity reinsurance, or life insurance balance sheet management required
- Understanding of UK DB pensions
- Understanding of Solvency II/UK for life insurance, in particular balance sheet construction, Matching Adjustment requirements, liability discounting, asset strategy & ALM valuable
- Understanding of non-standard capital and reinsurance structures valuable
- Ambitious and self-motivated with ability to work on own initiative/prioritise workload to strict deadlines
- Strong communication and presentation skills
