Responsibilities / Tasks

As a Software System Test Engineer, you will join GEA Farm Technologies GmbH within the Design Validation Centre at our Belfast location. You will contribute to exciting projects in digital agriculture, ensuring the quality and reliability of our web-based systems.

You will independently take on the following responsibilities:

  • Plan, implement, and execute automated tests for web applications (frontend, backend, and database) using Robot Framework BrowserLibrary or Cypress within a CI/CD pipeline.

  • Create and execute automated test sequences in accordance with defined test specifications.

  • Contribute to the implementation of GEA’s test strategy, including the definition, selection, and documentation of test cases.

  • Utilize Jira X-Ray as a test management tool to manage and track all testing activities.

  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with cross-site teams and external development partners.

  • Analyse, optimize, and refine test plans in terms of time and cost planning, resource allocation, technical feasibility, and test phases.

  • Prepare, document, and evaluate test results, including test protocols, reports, and defect descriptions, ensuring full compliance with documentation standards.

Your Profile / Qualifications

  • Successfully completed (technical) university degree in electrical engineering, computer science, or a comparable qualification.

  • Professional experience in software development is an advantage.

  • Strong methodological knowledge in design validation and testing across all project phases—from requirements analysis to go-live.

  • Solid understanding of web service architectures (RESTful services, web applications).

  • Proven experience in test automation, ideally with Robot Framework BrowserLibrary or Cypress.

  • Hands-on experience with DevOps, including CI/CD and automation processes.

  • Familiarity with embedded systems, Python, and Docker is an advantage.

  • Experience with Jira X-Ray and standard test management methodologies.

  • ISTQB Foundation Level Certification (or higher) is required.

  • Strong ability to work independently and take initiative; excellent communication skills; team-oriented, resilient, and committed.

  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.

  • Proficient in MS Office, operating systems, and databases (e.g., SQL).

  • Passion for new technologies and interest in web applications connected to embedded systems, combined with pragmatic judgment and a hands-on mindset.
