Job Description

Summary:

The Software Engineering Manager position will be responsible for leading Bose automotive software engineering team based at regional engineering offices, serving Automotive System Division (ASD) customers.

This position will be responsible for leading software implementation of contracted projects, providing software delivery plan, technical customer interfacing for software issues, and coordination across software functional teams. The Software Engineering Manager will also drive amplifier application software implementation estimation, production issue solution, including but not limited to embedded software design, implementation and verification. The candidate is required to work effectively with local automakers, flexible resource teams and other regional functional teams. Fluent speaking and writing skill in both English and native language is a must for this position.

Key Deliverable:

  • RFI/RFQ – Support functional level software requirements (e.g. diagnostics and networking) analysis.
  • Planning - Schedule software FROP and release plan to customer.
  • Design – Prepare detail level software design and component configuration.
  • Implementation – Lead software specification development and resolve technical issues.
  • Verification – Fix software defects under the help from software testing and integration teams.
  • Delivery – Release software features to customer on schedule with quality.
  • Product Support – Serve as first line of defense for software related customer issues, such as 8D support.
  • Communication – Understand technical challenges in detail and be able to discuss with customer and other Bose engineering teams effectively.
  • Customer Orientation – Work closely with regional engineering teams to satisfy customer request.
  • Coordination – Coordinate with DSP, platform, 3rd Party Supplier and SW Validation teams to delivery software features. Coordinate with System Engineering, Engineering PM, PDM, HW and System Integration Engineer to deliver Sound Controller (Amplifier) solution.
  • Process – Follow ASD software best practice and guide the team to exercise it.
  • Management – Provide software status and issue report and update to senior engineering managers or directors.

Experience:

  • Minimum 8 years of embedded software development experience, preferably in automotive and audio domains
  • Minimum 3 years of experience leading or managing software engineering teams, including technical leadership and people management responsibilities
  • Proven technical customer-facing experience in cross-functional and multicultural environments
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities and stakeholder expectations
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with demonstrated critical thinking
  • Strong software design and development skills, with experience in AUTOSAR Classic–based systems and a good understanding of ASPICE-aligned software development processes
  • Demonstrated technical writing and presentation skills

Education:

  • Required BS/BA in Software or Electrical Engineering
  • Master’s degree is preferred
