Build the Future of Industrial Tech: Senior Software Engineer (Platform & IDP)

Ready to make a tangible impact on global industries by building the engine that powers our developers? Trimble is looking for a creative, "many-hats" Software Engineer to develop our next-generation Internal Developer Platform (IDP), unblocking product teams and accelerating innovation across our global ecosystem.

About Us:

Trimble is an industrial technology company transforming the way the world works by delivering solutions that enable our customers to thrive. We create technologies that connect the digital and physical worlds, helping our customers increase productivity, quality, safety, and sustainability. From purpose-built products to enterprise-level solutions, our technology empowers professionals in construction, geospatial, government, transportation, and more.

What Makes This Role Great:

In this role, you will treat our Internal Developer Platform as a premier product, directly influencing how every developer at Trimble T&L builds, deploys, and scales infrastructure.

Key Exciting Responsibilities

  • Architect and develop our in-house IDP backend and APIs using Go, Postgres, Kafka, and Temporal.io.
  • Build and maintain custom Kubernetes operators that empower developers to consume self-service infrastructure.
  • Lead Site Reliability Engineering initiatives by debugging complex clusters, optimizing cloud costs, and improving our security posture.
  • Design and implement reusable GitHub Actions and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform to standardize global deployment workflows.
  • Act as a DevOps advocate and liaison, assisting product teams with migrations and providing best practices for cloud-native technologies.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in software development, platform engineering, or DevOps with a focus on developer experience.
  • Proficient in Go, Python, or TypeScript, specifically for building APIs, backend services, or CLI tools.
  • Expertise in Kubernetes architecture and managing production-grade clusters.
  • Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and GitOps workflows using GitHub Actions or ArgoCD.
  • Deep knowledge of cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and observability tools like Datadog or Prometheus.

Bonus Points For:

Experience building custom developer portals or using tools like Backstage and Port.

Familiarity with AI/ML engineering workflows, model deployment, or LLMOps concepts.

Knowledge of event-driven architectures using Kafka or NATS.

History of contributions to open-source projects or active participation in platform engineering communities.
