Your future role within QRT:

At Qube Research & Technologies (QRT), our low-latency trading systems must operate reliably and predictably, whilst being continually improved to stay at the forefront of trading technology.
Our infrastructure engineering team builds the tools, automation, and testing systems that allow trading platforms to evolve safely and quickly. This role is highly collaborative and involves writing software across the full technology stack, from developer tooling and build systems through to hardware test workflows.
You will have the opportunity to solve technically challenging engineering problems, improve the foundations of our trading infrastructure, and make a direct impact on our trading capabilities.
  • Develop Python software that supports the build, test and deployment of our trading platforms
  • Contribute to systems engineering design, using cloud services where appropriate to improve scalability, reliability, or delivery speed
     
  • Develop internal tools and workflows that improve developer productivity
     
  • Improve test infrastructure for validating software and hardware changes before they reach production
     
  • Work closely with operations and hardware development teams to understand their requirements and workflows
     
  • Debug issues across Linux systems, networks, build environments, and application code

Your present skillset:

•   Strong Python software engineering skills, including writing maintainable code, tests, and clear interfaces
•   Good working knowledge of Linux environments, command-line tooling, and shell scripting
•   Experience building internal platforms, automation frameworks, backend services, or developer tools
•   Good understanding of networking fundamentals, including routing, multicast, VLANs, and Ethernet
•   Ability to independently identify problems, take ownership, and drive solutions with a high degree of autonomy
•   Strong attention to detail
•   Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
 
Nice to have:
•   Familiarity with C++ and SQL, especially for debugging existing systems and developing our C++ build system
•   Experience improving build systems, test automation, or CI workflows in platforms like GitLab
•   Exposure to configuration management tools, such as Ansible
•   Experience with AWS, container technologies such as Docker, or infrastructure tooling such as Terraform
