Help us build the multimodal data stack for physical AI

At Rerun, we’re building a new multimodal data stack for Physical AI. Large parts of the physical-world economy will be transformed by these technologies, and we're building the data infrastructure and tools that enable it to happen. Rerun’s open source project focuses on visualizing and handling multimodal logs and is already loved by some of the best teams in the world. We are an open core company, so most of what you’ll build with us will be open source, directly benefiting the Rerun community - be it robotics, AR/VR, autonomous systems and more.

What you’ll work on
  • Contribute to various aspects of the Rerun infrastructure, covering the open source viewer and cross language SDKs. Process large volumes of 2D, 3D, time-series and statistical data in real time.

  • Make technology and architecture decisions that affect and reach across the full stack.

  • Profile and optimize user workflows across multiple desktop platforms and the web

  • Contribute to downstream open source projects when necessary to make progress

  • Help the open source community achieve great results using the Rerun data & visualization stack

We would love if you have
  • Strong programming skills in Rust with experience building real-time, high-performance applications with rich, meaningful visual output.

  • Familiarity with game engine–style architectures, especially where rendering, responsiveness, and UI interactivity intersect.

  • Strong track record in interactive data visualization, particularly involving large datasets and complex visual structures.

  • Comfortable working with Rust-based UI frameworks like egui, or similar, and capable of crafting intuitive and responsive interfaces.

  • Great communication skills in English - you'll be interacting with both the community and your team

  • A helpful attitude and a curious mind, with an ownership mindset - we're all doing this together!

Nice-To-Haves
  • Background in robotics or familiarity with tools like RViz is a major plus.

  • Knowledge of GPU-based rendering pipelines (e.g., WGPU, other GPU/OS-level graphics libraries) and how to optimize them for performance.

  • Worked with or built streaming systems (video, telemetry, sensor data, etc.).

  • Experience contributing to or maintaining open-source projects.

  • Strong in Rust plus any of the following:

    • High-performance data processing

    • Working with large-scale infrastructure or databases

    • Advanced visualization tooling

  • Experience with other programming languages like Python and C++.

  • Experience building for the browser, particularly with WASM

How we work at Rerun
  • We're a remote company headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden.

  • We meet up in person for a week roughly once a quarter

  • The team you'll join has members in European and US-east timezones

    • Everyone is available for synchronous work between 1:30–5:00pm CET.
Given our current team distribution, candidates outside of Europe or the US will be considered on a case-by-case basis to ensure there’s enough overlap for effective collaboration.

  • We've put together an uncommonly talented tech team, value agency and helpfulness highly, and expect everyone to take broad responsibility for what they build

  • We offer competitive cash and equity compensation, six weeks paid vacation, and whatever hardware and software you need to do your job

Most of all we hope you're excited to build some really cool technology that will have a real impact on the world with us!

If you find that you don't fit neatly into this or any of the other open roles, we're not that rigid and are generally looking for great developers who can contribute to what we're building. Just go ahead and apply to the one you think is the closest and we'll take it from there!
