NetBox Labs is seeking a Software Engineer to join our Observability Team. Observability is a key component of network automation and assurance, critical to our company mission to make it easier to build and manage complex networks.

In this role you will:

  • Building and extending the Discovery & Assurance suite of products, focusing on  the Assurance NetBox plugins.

  • Delivering both closed and open source software.

You'll work closely with:

  • Product management – to bring ideas to life and deliver a compelling user experience

  • The Core Applications Engineering team – to create the ultimate observability tooling within NetBox

  • The Platform Engineering team – to ensure seamless integration with NetBox Cloud and Enterprise

  • Community members- as users and contributors to the project

Requirements:

  • Extensive experience in Python and Django.

  • Skilled in building microservices, distributed systems, and event-driven architecture.

  • Proficient in Golang and gRPC.

  • Knowledge of observability, monitoring and instrumentation, such as OpenTelemetry and MQTT

  • Solid understanding of network infrastructure and related concepts, such as devices and device configurations, networking protocols and layers, and network automation with ansible

  • Experience in building intuitive admin UI’s using HTML, CSS, and frameworks like Bootstrap, as well as some experience with HTMX.

  • 3+ years of experience working in a fast paced, SaaS startup environment 

  • Great communication skills, including the ability to write technical specifications with diagrams

  • Involvement with open source projects as a founder, maintainer or key contributor

Nice to Haves:

  • Experience with AI technologies like Claude, Codeium, Copilot and Cursor
