Role Profile
We are seeking a Software Engineering Lead to oversee and mentor multiple engineers who are each embedded in different Scrum teams. You will manage and coach your direct reports, ensuring they have the support, resources, and guidance needed to excel. You will also contribute to solutions engineering by troubleshooting difficult technical problems, guiding high-level design choices, and collaborating with architects, DevOps, and other leads. This role focuses on people leadership while maintaining a high level of technical involvement to keep solutions robust and well-aligned with business goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Team & People Leadership
- Manage a group of engineers working in separate Scrum teams, focusing on per-formance reviews, career development, and overall wellbeing.
- Provide frequent feedback and technical coaching to help direct reports grow in their roles and overcome challenges in their pods.
- Coordinate with Scrum Masters and Pod Leads to understand sprint objectives.
- Identify and promote best practices across pods, encouraging knowledge-sharing among your engineers and addressing cross-team inefficiencies.
- Agile & Collaboration
- Advocate for Agile principles by supporting Scrum ceremonies (planning, stand-ups, retros) as needed, making sure processes are consistent even if you’re not at every session.
- Collaborate with Product Owners, DevOps, and other Lead Engineers to remove blockers and clarify objectives for your direct reports.
- Serve as a point of escalation and resolution, ensuring that engineering challenges are tackled quickly and that progress is transparent to stakeholders.
- Technical & Solutions Engineering
- Provide technical oversight and perform code reviews, advising on complex is-sues, evaluating solutions for feasibility and quality.
- Work with the Technical Architect and other leads to confirm that the solutions your engineers implement fit within the overall technical roadmap and standards.
- Contribute to high-level solution design and troubleshooting, especially when mul-tiple Scrum teams must coordinate.
- Participate hands on in proof-of-concepts (POCs) and estimation tasks, bridging the gap between conceptual ideas and practical implementation approaches.
What we are looking for:
Essential
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science (or related field), or an equivalent combination of technical education and work experience.
- 10+ years of professional software development experience 5 in a Senior or Lead position (C#/.NET, JavaScript/TypeScript).
- Demonstrable experience leading or managing software engineers, including performance management and mentorship.
- Strong technical background in C#/.NET, React.js and AWS-based technologies with the expertise to guide others.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies, capable of supporting multiple engineers in various pods.
- Excellent communication skills, especially when translating technical topics for non-tech-nical stakeholders and vice versa.
- Proven problem-solving ability, comfortable stepping into complex issues to offer clarity and direction.
Desirable
- Experience with geospatial data (Leaflet, GIS libraries) or large-scale data pipelines.
- Knowledge of Identity Server, CI/CD pipelines, or container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Background in maritime data, logistics, or risk intelligence.
- AWS certifications (Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer) or equivalent. Commercial experience working with large data volumes and streaming technologies.
