Why should I Apply:

At Sonar, we’re a group of brilliant, motivated, and driven professionals working hard to help organizations build responsible, secure, high-quality code quickly and systematically. We build solutions that don’t just solve symptoms of problems – we fix problems at the source – source code, to be specific.

We have a dynamic culture with employees worldwide and hub offices in the USA, Switzerland, the UK, Singapore, and Germany. We believe team members should have the opportunity to come to work every day, work on a product they are proud of, love what they do, and feel energized by their peers. With our roots deep in the open source community, we’re all about the mission: provide solutions that deliver Clean Code.

The impact you can have

SonarQube for IDE is an advanced plugin designed for leading Integrated Development Environments (IDEs) to help developers identify and remediate code quality and security issues. By performing real-time analysis and highlighting potential problems, this tool integrates seamlessly with SonarQube Server and SonarQube Cloud, providing a comprehensive development experience.

We are seeking a versatile software developer with a strong focus on Java to join our dynamic IDE Experience squad. In this role, you will contribute to enhancing various editions of SonarQube for IDE (including Eclipse, VSCode, and IntelliJ). Your objective will be to make SonarQube for IDE an indispensable tool for developers across all IDE platforms.

On a daily basis, you will

  • Join the IDE squad responsible for the development of the SonarQube for IDE extensions. Your responsibilities will include contributing to specifications, writing code and tests, reviewing peers’ code, validating features, and managing releases.
  • Be a key contributor to an open-source tool that is trusted and loved by developers worldwide.
  • Become an expert in pushing the boundaries of what can be achieved with the most popular IDE extensibility SDKs.
  • Utilize the power of SonarQube Cloud and SonarQube Server within the IDE to ensure an exceptional developer experience.
  • Contribute to the CI pipeline that supports the development and release processes of SonarQube for IDE.
  • Engage proactively with the open-source community, other SonarSourcers, and the support team to incorporate their feedback.
  • Foster continuous improvement within your squad by participating in retrospectives, sharing your technical expertise, and taking on a fair share of the team’s workload.

The skills you will demonstrate

  • Strong track record in software development, particularly with Java.
  • Expertise in developing with clean code principles and best practices.
  • Excellent engineering skills with a solid understanding of computer science fundamentals.
  • Fluency in source code quality practices, including unit and functional tests, CI/CD, and code reviews.
  • Strong understanding of agile methodologies and principles.
  • Comfortable navigating change and ambiguity.
  • Self-confidence to challenge the status quo and openness to being challenged.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken

Nice to have

  • A keen interest in the Eclipse platform.
  • Experience developing IDE extensions.
  • Experience with frontend/UI development.
  • Experience using and configuring static analyzers as part of the development process.

We believe that great people make a great company. We value people skills as much as technical skills and strive to keep things friendly and laid-back while still being passionate leaders in our domains. Our 550+ SonarSourcers from 33 different nationalities can relate!

We embrace work-life balance. It is important to maintain a healthy work-life balance. This is why we have a flexible work policy that includes remote and in-office hybrid work (minimum three days a week in the office - Monday/Tuesday/Thursday).

We have a growth mindset. We love to learn and believe that continuous education is critical to our success. In an ever-changing industry, new skills are a must, and we're happy to help our team acquire them.
