As we're scaling rapidly, we have a number of opportunities available across different teams and levels. The specific role you move forward with will be shaped as we progress through the interview process, allowing us to assess where your experience can have the greatest impact, with the right support around you to enable both your growth and that of the team. Our Talent Acquisition team will guide you through the details as we go.
What will I be doing?
You’ll join the Kaluza Technology community, working on the Energy Retail platform, a scalable SaaS product that supports energy retailers and decarbonisation efforts. In this role, you’ll build and improve backend services using technologies like TypeScript and Node.js, contributing to reliable, event-driven systems at scale.
You’ll collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to deliver user-focused features, while taking ownership of services or components with support from experienced teammates. Along the way, you’ll write well-tested code, work with databases and cloud technologies such as AWS, and help maintain reliable systems in production, all within a collaborative team focused on continuous improvement.
About You
Ideally you’ll have:
- Experience developing backend applications
- Experience with TypeScript, or experience in another language and an interest in working with TypeScript
- Some exposure to event-driven systems or message queues (e.g. Kafka, SQS)
- Familiarity with cloud environments, ideally AWS
- Comfort working with databases (SQL or NoSQL) and an understanding of basic trade-offs
- A collaborative approach, with clear communication and a focus on solving problems as a team
- Curiosity and motivation to continue learning and growing as an engineer
What will set you apart:
- Some exposure to frontend development, such as React
Why might this role not suit you?
We are going through a period of significant evolution which is exciting and with it brings lots of opportunity and challenging work, which is not for everyone. To be successful in this role, you will be excellent at operating in ambiguous, changing environments, balancing multiple priorities simultaneously and get enjoyment from making the complex, simple.
Our Interview Process
We run a transparent process designed to reflect the kind of work you’d do here.
