ABOUT THE ROLE
We are hiring a Software Engineer - Backend EU/UK remote (m/f/d) to join the Funds Transfers team.
Join the team powering the financial heartbeat of Pliant. We own the fund flows logic that drives every money movement across the platform: from settlements and drawdowns to customer top-ups, pay-ins and billing before they ever touch external payment rails.
Our systems orchestrate issuer settlements, refinancing mechanisms, and complex liquidity flows across multiple markets, entities, and regulatory models. This is high-impact, high-scale engineering at the core of a fast-growing fintech, where precision, resilience, and smart execution directly shape how money moves for thousands of organizations. The team consists of backend and frontend engineers alongside a product manager and an engineering manager.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Working on technical initiatives: Collaborating with others to drive epics and technical initiatives within the team. From solution conception to delivering production ready code to ensure continuous feature delivery.
- Shaping systems’ architecture: Actively participating in shaping our technical direction and how the systems should grow by bringing up possible improvement topics for a healthy discussion within the team.
- Adhering to our code standards: Ensuring a scalable, maintainable, and secure micro-service architecture that can handle the expected load and grow iteratively as needed.
- Maintaining our systems: Participating in the on-call rotation and the overall support effort of the team while keeping an eye on root causes and possible system improvement points.
- Discuss and commit: Communication is key in our team and we like to avoid knowledge silos by maintaining a knowledge sharing culture through documentation pages such as RFCs and ADRs, or grooming meetings -when needed- to ensure team alignment before we commit to a given work plan.
- Collaborate with Stakeholders: Working closely with the product manager and the engineering manager and frontend engineers to align on action items and deliver high quality features.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING
- Expertise in building testable, maintainable, and extendable systems.
- Obsession with the best engineering practices.
- Strong problem solving skills.
- 5+ years of relevant experience with Java and Spring Boot (or relevant stack).
- Proficiency with REST APIs and event driven communication patterns.
- Proficiency with relational databases (preferably PostgreSQL)
- Experience with AWS and Docker.
