Optiver is looking for a Software Engineer to join our London Autotrading development team.  This team works both on expanding the functionality of our autotrading systems to meet the unique needs of the desks in London, as well as taking a lead on optimizing and improving the scalability of our core trading platform. Our systems are built to add to the stability of the market, not detract from it; therefore, they must operate at peak efficiency in the most extreme market conditions across every product we want to trade. We’re looking for a hands-on engineer with deep technical knowledge to help us in this mission.

What you’ll do:

  • Work closely with the trading team to understand their needs, and build out new functionality and strategies in our autotrading systems;
  • Develop performance critical code that must handle huge amounts of data in an environment where nanoseconds matter;
  • Build mission critical software to the highest level of quality with risk management at the forefront of thinking;
  • Tackle architectural limitations in our trading system, allowing us to scale to an ever increasing number of instruments in markets that are busier than ever.

Who you are:

  • Strong engineering instincts and a deep understanding of computer science fundamentals;
  • Experience writing software in C/C++ and Python, with a proven ability to deliver scalable, reliable, high-quality code;
  • Ability to distil complex problems in to simple and pragmatic solutions;
  • Able to operate autonomously as well as collaborate with Traders, Researchers, other technical teams and business operations counterparts to deliver on complex business initiatives;
  • Experience with performance critical distributed systems;
  • Experience building high frequency trading systems would be beneficial but not required.
