The Mission

We are looking for a Java-heavy SDET to join a high-impact project for one of our NYC Government Projects. You will be part of a team dedicated to simplifying and improving processes and improving quality of live for thousands of children and families. This isn't just about finding bugs; it’s about ensuring the reliability of a platform that changes lives.

Why This Role is Different
  • Dev-First Culture: We prioritize engineering and problem-solving. You aren't "just QA"—you are an engineer who focuses on quality.

  • Sophisticated Tooling: You will contribute to and leverage our custom in-house automation framework built on Java, Spring, and Selenium. It is designed to eliminate boilerplate and simplify complex automation tasks.

  • Expert Mentorship: Work alongside a powerhouse team of Senior Software Engineers and SDETs who value clean code and architectural best practices.

  • Hands-on Exposure: Interested in performance? You’ll have the opportunity to play an active role and assist with performance testing initiatives.

The Role

In this role, you will spend the majority of your time writing code. You will design, extend, and maintain an automation framework that ensures our enterprise-scale web applications are resilient and scalable.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Architect & Build: Design and maintain a Java-based automation framework using OOP best practices.

  • Scale Testing: Write and execute sophisticated automated test cases using Selenium and Cucumber within a Spring environment.

  • Collaborate: Partner with development teams to identify "testability" gaps and prioritize automation opportunities early in the SDLC.

  • Peer Review: Participate in code reviews to ensure automation scripts are as maintainable and scalable as the production code they test.

  • Solve Problems: Troubleshoot complex logic issues and debug framework-level challenges.

  • Strategic QA: Identify high-value candidates for automation and document test scenarios for complex workflows.

What We’re Looking For

We care most about your ability to write clean, logical code. You should consider yourself a Java Developer whose specialty is Quality Engineering.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Java Prowess: You must be able to comfortably demonstrate deep knowledge of Java (OOP concepts, collections, exception handling, and logic).

  • Problem Solvers: Strong critical thinking and debugging skills are a must.

  • U.S. Based: You must be located within the U.S.A. and authorized to work for any employer.

  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for collaborating with a distributed team.

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.

Bonus Points (Nice to Have):

  • 4+ years of experience in software automation.

  • Experience building or contributing to an automation framework from scratch.

  • Familiarity with Data-Driven testing and complex XPath/CSS selectors.

  • Exposure to Spring Boot or the Spring Framework.

Interview Process
  1. Round 1: Intro + Technical Deep-Dive. A combined session to discuss the project followed by a rigorous technical interview focusing on Java coding, logic, and automation architecture.

  2. Round 2: Final Round (Optional). A follow-up to meet additional team members if needed.
