⭐ Mission
We're looking for a Manager, Site Reliability Engineering to restore a functional management layer within our Platform team following a departure, and to help us build a simpler, more resilient, and more reliable infrastructure. You'll lead a team of ~8 engineers and work directly with Victor, Head of SRE, to reduce incident noise, accelerate delivery, and strengthen our platform's reliability—all while navigating the constraints of a banking license and compliance requirements. Your impact will be felt across Backend, Security, Data, Frontend, and Mobile teams. You'll help Qonto serve one million SMEs by 2025 with a platform they can trust.
👩💻🧑💻 As a Lead SRE Manager at Qonto, you will
- Spot and kill waste — Identify unnecessary steps, ceremonies, and costs (logging, NAT, CI queues); simplify tooling and operational debt; focus relentlessly on outcomes over process
- Drive continuous improvement — Run Gemba walks, Kaizen sessions, and PDCA cycles; create fast feedback loops; make the right behavior the default through automation and smart tooling
- Lead incident response and post-mortems — Triage production incidents, make fast decisions under pressure, run post-mortems focused on actions (not blame), and systematically reduce change failure rate
- Coach your team from senior level to staff one — Provide direct, factual feedback through 1:1s, help engineers build ownership and communication skills, and create clear progression paths
- Stabilize execution and reliability — Define SLOs on critical services, reduce MTTR, prioritize the incident backlog, and ensure delivery doesn't drop during the transition
🤔 What you can expect:
- A critical platform with unique challenges — We manage our own observability stack, achieve auto-rollback in under 3 minutes, and operate under banking license constraints. You won't find this combination elsewhere.
- Outcome-focused autonomy — No bureaucracy, no mimicking what others do. We think outside the box to find value where it matters. You'll have the freedom to experiment, simplify, and ship.
- A Lean culture of continuous improvement — We use structured tools (Gemba, Kaizen, PDCA) inspired by Lean management to accelerate learning and performance. This is the Qonto Way.
- A team with solid technical skills and good energy — The team has strong expertise, helps each other, and rarely gets blocked. The challenge is to help them grow their soft skills (communication, ownership, influence) and challenge each other more.
- AI at Qonto — We embrace AI daily. Experiment with it, adapt your workflows to unlock productivity, and evolve your role as AI changes how we work.
🤝 About your future manager/ Head of
Your manager will be Victor. His leadership style is built on setting clear goals and trusting you to find the path. He views his role as a force multiplier for you. He will push you to experiment and reject the status quo, while clearing the roadblocks in your way. He creates an environment where the best logic wins, regardless of seniority. As a Lead, do not wait for orders. You are expected to speak up, challenge assumptions, and solve problems autonomously. You can see him speak in this video.
🏅About You
- First experience of SRE management experience — You've led a team, coached engineers, and know how to give feedback that drives growth
- Incident leadership — You've triaged production incidents, made decisions under pressure, communicated clearly during crises, and run post-mortems that lead to real actions (not reports). You've reduced MTTR and change failure rate.
- Outcome-oriented and highly autonomous — You focus on results, not ceremony. You provide direct, factual feedback. You have high emotional stability and low drama.
- Waste-spotting instinct — You see unnecessary steps, processes, and costs instantly—and you kill them. You think in terms of outcomes, not activities.
- Strategic problem framing — You don't just solve instances of problems; you eliminate entire classes of issues through automation, tooling, and smart design.
"At Qonto we understand that true diversity isn't just about ticking boxes on a hiring checklist. Apply regardless of the boxes you tick! Who knows? You may have the missing piece of the puzzle we've been searching for all along"
