Job Purpose

As a Shopify Architect, you will utilize your strengths in customer engagement, technology, and solution design to help clients realize their digital business transformations. You will design, develop, and architect solutions on the Shopify platform for engagements ranging from enterprise-wide transformative digital solutions to tightly focused proofs-of-concept based on emerging technologies and techniques. Our Architects will become deep product specialists with Shopify, working closely with our Client Services and Solutions organizations to define, socialize, and implement a technical architecture to meet clients' needs.  Work closely with Shopify Technical Lead to standardize best-practices and process for delivering on the Shopify platform.

In this role you will get to

Technology Solution & Strategy

• Design and guide the integration of Shopify with other systems and custom applications to the Shopify platform
• Act a subject matter expert (SME) in Shopify features, designing solutions, using the Shopify API, private and public apps and other tools that extend the product
• Work closely with Project Managers, Shopify Consultants and clients to architect technology solutions needed to support key customer business requirements
• Support and provide estimates regarding timeline and resource management for the integration and development
• Ensure design is architected correct and meets Shopify best practices
• Authors the technical design specifications
• Oversee overall development, validation, and deployment plans

Practice Leadership

• Work closely with leadership to provide strategic overview, guidance and roadmap recommendations for our portfolio of clients
• Provide best practices guidance to developers and client technical team

Revenue Office

• Work closely with the engagement managers and client executives on defining, scoping, and conducting product demonstrations around custom solutions and proof-of-concepts

Your skills and qualifications

• 4+ years experience of working with Shopify on deployment teams throughout the project lifecycle, using agile and/or waterfall development techniques 
• 2+ years of experience in data model design, and enterprise architecture
• Experience in defining and implementing technical strategy and architecture 
• A proven track record of successful delivery on customer projects on the Shopify platform
• Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills necessary to partner with and influence business stakeholders and technologists

Skills and competency

• A self-starter, adept at picking up new skills and technologies, and eager to break new ground 
• Excellent communication skills, equally comfortable with crafting emails as leading a white-board discussion with customers or delivering a technical presentation 
• Strategic vision to help us to drive the standards and architecture of our Shopify practice

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience consulting with clients on requirements, architecting and implementing best-practice-rooted solutions with the Shopify platform
• Deep experience/knowledge in designing, building, and testing business-wide distributed systems including knowledge of traditional and modern integration technologies (Web Services, MQ, Kafka, REST, GraphQL, ESBs, API Gateways, etc.)
