The Role

We are seeking an SEO Manager, an all-rounder SEO professional who will be responsible for devising, implementing, and overseeing the SEO strategy for South Africa. The ideal candidate will have a strong track record in international SEO, with the ability to identify opportunities, measure performance, and clearly demonstrate the impact of SEO on business growth. This is a data-driven role where analysis and ongoing optimisation are required to establish Virgin Bet as a market leader.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accountable for driving and implementing the SEO performance across multiple brands in South Africa.
  • Perform technical audits and identify technical improvements across the brands.
  • Track and evaluate performance against multiple KPIs, providing regular reporting and analysis.
  • Engage external vendors when required, ensuring clear communication, expectation management, and performance reporting.
  • Provide regular updates for colleagues and senior management, summarising SEO performance and projecting out near-future performance of campaigns.
  • Own the content production process and ensure all content is semantically optimised and aligned with SEO best practices.
  • Responsible for keeping content fresh and up-to-date, uploading articles within the CMS to ensure timely publication.
  • Perform competitive analysis and identify opportunities for growth.
  • Helping to refine & optimise link building strategies.
  • Performing ad-hoc SEO tasks as required.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  • Fluent in English with strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good working knowledge of HTML and knowledge of JS will be considered an asset.
  • Experience using SEO tools such as Screaming Frog, aHrefs etc and LLM prompts.
  • Understanding of Generative AI, LLMs and the evolving search landscape with AI-powered responses.
  • Proven experience in SEO with a genuine passion and keeping up to date with the latest industry trends.
  • Solid understanding of all other online and offline channels (display, affiliates, social, print, TV, email) and their effects on SEO.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to plan and deliver against business strategy.
  • Proactive, having excellent problem-solving skills and organisation skills.
