Your new role

As SEO Editor at LBC, you will play a key role in shaping our digital content strategy, ensuring our stories reach the widest possible audience. You will work closely with journalists, editors, and digital teams to optimize content, analyze performance, and drive organic traffic growth across LBC’s digital platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with LBC's digital journalism team to optimize articles for maximum search visibility
  • Planning: Look ahead to key events and work with the editorial team so they are a) prepared and b) understand what search audiences want. 
  • Communicate SEO insights effectively to the newsroom - what worked, what didn’t? What can we learn from competitors?
  • Strong knowledge of how Evergreen articles can be used to support the breaking news agenda.
  • Strong knowledge of the benefits of internal linking.

  • Developed and implemented an SEO strategy tailored to LBC’s editorial and business goals.
  • Optimized high-performing articles and improved organic search rankings for key topics.
  • Trained editorial teams on SEO best practices and integrated search-first thinking into daily workflows.
  • Identified key traffic growth opportunities using SEO tools and analytics.

What You’ll Need

  • Proven experience in an SEO-focused editorial role, preferably in a newsroom or digital publishing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Google’s algorithm updates, SEO tools (Google Analytics, Google Search Console, SEMrush, Ahrefs, etc.), and keyword research strategies.
  • Experience working with content management systems (CMS) and an understanding of on-page SEO, metadata, and structured data.
  • A passion for news and digital media, with the ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with journalists and editors.
