We are now looking for a senior video producer, news to join our multimedia team! In this role you’ll produce news videos for the Guardian website and Guardian News YouTube channel, overseeing and refining team output as required while delivering high-quality, fast-turnaround explainers, clips, packages and live feeds, as well as visual investigations.

About the role

  • Take the editorial lead on complex, high-profile or fast-moving video stories, particularly during breaking news
  • Review and edit scripts and video created by more junior members of the team, ensuring accuracy, quality and editorial standards and giving clear, constructive feedback
  • Ensure meticulous pre-production of complex explainers and investigations
  • Oversee and direct shoots in the field such as interviews for explainers
  • Manage production schedules for complex explainers and investigations
  • Act as a senior editorial voice during major news events
  • Build strong relationships with senior newsroom stakeholders and external partners
  • Make independent editorial decisions on story treatment, structure, and angles

 

About you

  • Strong storytelling and ability to find and develop topical, compelling stories across the world
  • Demonstrates inclusive leadership by promoting equity, valuing diverse perspectives, and addressing barriers affecting team members
  • Demonstrable experience of overseeing the work of others or managing direct reports
  • Experience editing video in a breaking news environment as well as complex explainer videos
  • Proven track record producing, shooting and directing in challenging or fast-paced environments
  • Proven track record editing YouTube-first videos to a high standard
  • Strong knowledge of industry-standard video equipment (eg: Sony FX6) and post-production software (eg: Adobe Premiere)
  • Experience directing reporters/presenters on camera
  • Collaborative, open and inclusive approach
  • Advocates for and leads on a visual, multi-format approach
  • Ideally, you’ll have a demonstrable ability to bring a diverse perspective to this role.
