Are you an expert on all things video editing with a passion for creating high quality original content for some of the biggest news brands in the UK? We are looking for a Senior Video Editor to join our Reach Studio team. 

This is a unique opportunity to work with our national and regional news brands including but not limited to The Mirror, Daily Express, Manchester Evening News and many more. You will oversee the editing of original, social, vodcast, and branded content aimed at evolving our audience engagement and expanding revenue opportunities.

Reach Studio launched last year and is a unique blend of editorial and commercial talent, serving multimedia content to both our audiences and advertising partners. Our dynamic team is made up of highly skilled producers, editors, designers and social media experts. Reach Studio has already launched a variety of content and podcasts including our branded content Let’s Start Talking podcast, Mirror Gaming socials and an exclusive interview with Virgil van Dijk. From developing existing podcasts to producing new video shows and formats that our audiences will love, we want you to join us for what's next.

This role works from our Canary Wharf offices 5 days per week, we are therefore open to candidates based in and around London.

Job Description

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

  • Edit a diverse range of high quality content, working across commercial, editorial, social and marketing projects.
  • Ensure all video content is edited to brief, in line with resource allocation, budget and deadlines, whilst ensuring quality expectations are met
  • Undertake animation and motion graphics tasks at a high level using After effects and Photoshop
  • Edit large-scale projects with several hours of rushes, creating a narrative that drives audience engagement.
  • Create social cut-downs from the longer edits that drive users to YouTube 
  • Edit smaller-scale edits with pace and precision to drive engagement
  • Keeping up to date with video trends and feeding back in the right forums.
  • Colour correction and grading images and videos, conforming to broadcast and social standards and guidelines.
  • Sourcing audio tracks and sound mixing edits, creating well mastered tracks across multiple layers.
  • Lead by example and ensure regular quality checking across the team ensuring maximum attention to detail to guarantee the product is shown in the most optimum way for all deliverables
  • Able to intake feedback from stakeholders and re-deliver new draft versions that complete feedback and/or offer creative solutions to comments.
  • Guiding more junior members of the video team, directing and assisting when needed, teaching best practices and maintaining and policing their technical processes.
  • Maintain hard-drives and archives and check media for any corrupt files.
  • Contribute to departmental technology software and hardware launches when required

  • If possible some camera operating skills on DSLR, professional level cameras or mobile phones.

Qualifications

Skills & Competencies:

  • Sufficient industry experience  experience in video production management or a similar role within the media or creative industries 
  • Advanced knowledge of and skills using the Adobe Creative Suite, with exceptional proficiency in Premiere, After Effects and Photoshop.
  • A track record of editing content for social and YouTube
  • High level of proficiency in colour grading using Adobe Premiere.
  • High level of proficiency in sound mixing and mastering.
  • Passion for original, social and branded content.
  • Be able to demonstrate initiative, problem solving and creativity on a daily basis.
  • Confident in Microsoft Office Suite of program.
  • Ability to manage and oversee multiple projects simultaneously from start to finish, meeting tight deadlines eg. breaking news
  • Be able to demonstrate initiative, problem-solving and creativity on a daily basis. 
  • A ‘can do’ attitude, able to work well under pressure
  • Ability to take on feedback, new ideas and direction.
  • An ability to work both independently and collaboratively with the wider team
