The Senior UX Designer contributes to developing usable UIs and standards for FactSet’s stock and portfolio analysis software platforms. This role is part of a UX team that reports into the Product Development Group and consists of user research, interaction design, visual design, and front-end development teams. Group members collaborate together as well as with product, sales, marketing, and technical teams to meet the needs and improve the experience of tens of thousands of FactSet users. The best candidate for this role is a self-confident and self-motivated UX practitioner who is passionate about meeting client needs through user-centered design and has experience collaborating on cross-functional teams to derive optimal product solutions to client needs.


The key goals of the UX team are as follows:

  • Give clients a consistently excellent experience from first engagement onward.
  • Design comprehensive intuitive solutions to meet our users needs.
  • Provide seamless integration of our platform into our users day to day workflow. 
  • Define and maintain a comprehensive design system.
  • Craft a beautiful, unified and predictable UI and increase ease of use across the product.

To help us achieve these goals you will need to work closely and collaboratively with team members across the organization. As a senior team member you will have a large amount of trust and independence, you will be responsible for driving your project forward. You will be part of a team that wants to hear your opinions, ideas and concerns. That means you need to be an emotionally intelligent, pragmatic and straightforward person who is comfortable sharing your thoughts and feedback.

As our product & design system evolves and we strive for consistency of experience across the platform, it will be critical for you to bring a careful and detail oriented approach to designing and collaborating on interfaces.
 

Our team understands the close relationship and collaboration needed between departments to build excellent software. You should have a strong understanding of design & systems thinking so you can work closely with PM's to explore problems and plan solutions that align with long term goals. You will also be working with engineers and QA throughout the implementation and testing stages to clarify interactions, solve edge cases and ensure a high level of quality in production releases. 

Having a design portfolio and experience in user interface design is required for this position. 

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has 5+ years of experience in a full time role as a UX designer or as a UX Contractor
  • Has a strong aesthetic sense and visual design skills
  • Has experience building visual mockups and prototypes
  • Has experience designing high quality desktop web interfaces
  • Will be excited about collaborating and communicating closely with team members and other stakeholders
  • Will work with clients to understand detailed requirements and design solutions that meet their needs.
  • Is knowledgeable when it comes to managing and iterating a design system 
  • Is confident and experienced at engaging with clients
  • Welcomes feedback and constructive criticism.
  • Possesses an understanding of the principles and practices of UX understanding of UX theory
  • Has strong writing, speaking, and listening skills.

Some of the main responsibilities of this role will be:

  • Engaging in all aspects of the UX process, using a variety of methodologies, best practices
    and standards to ensure consistency and usability
  • Suggest and participate in additional information gathering sessions with user-focused
    activities such as story mapping, journey mapping, empathy mapping, and others.
  • Produce deliverables that are comprehensive, demonstrating analytical thinking and
    problem solving, and a solid understanding of the principles and practices of UX.
  • Participating in initial planning sessions with PM's to explore problems and solutions
    • Building wireframes and prototypes to explore potential workflows & interactions
    • Building comprehensive pixel perfect mockups 
    • Working with PM's & QA to write high quality acceptance criteria for new features.
    • Planning research tasks and/or participating in client feedback sessions.
    • Contributing to maintaining/documenting/improving our design system.
